That's a year and a half old. More then likely you already have it. I do and yet when I type in my Vin it says I need it. There is a newer version out but it does not appear to be a download, over the air only so you have to wait your turn.

.

But I want it now!

Ugh, this update seems to have bricked my radio. Last night I got a "Schedule this update" warning, so I did for 2am last night. This morning, it was still not updated. So I got to do my 1 and half hour commute in silence. Obviously, I'm a little pissed about this. Is there a work-around?

Hi @Upthewazzu,

If you are still in need of support, please send us a private message with your VIN so that we can investigate this further.

This over the air update crap is for the birds. Wish they would just make it available as a download. I live in the sticks and have spotty cell coverage as it is so I'll be lucky if it comes through for me.

A guy over on Cummins forum had his hang up as well. They told him to do this to reset it.

"push the volume and tuner knobs simultaneously and hold for 30 seconds or so till screen goes black. Then it should reboot and let me re-schedule the update"

The OTA thing is OK at best, the real issue is that they (supposedly) have no way of downgrading a head unit to a previous version. Even downloading doesnt help because the s/w checks to see if the version you are flashing is greater than or equal to the version that is already there.

If FCA had half a brain they would shut down all updates until they could make the head units recoverable.

I've never had an issue before. Previous updates gave me an "Install Now" option. So I just hit the button and let it do its thing. Never had to deal with this scheduling crap before, which apparently locks you completely out of the radio.

Yep, same boat. I'm a little pissed about it. I've tried their scheduled update probably 10x, it never works. As of now I get the irritating screen saying to schedule the update and my radio is locked. Someone at Uconnect needs to figure this out. We had to drive 3 hours over the weekend, in silence because Uconnect decided I needed an update that I didn't ask for and then they were not competent enough to do their job. I'm sure they will want me to bring it to a dealer, on my time, to fix their screw up. Please Uconnect, do not "help" me anymore with updates you can't handle yourself.

Mine went through fine. What I don't understand is why is this thing able to OTA update itself but your 911 button won't even work without you paying uconnect the $25/month or whatever it is.

have you tested that?

If its like a cell phone, AFAIK it is a law that 911 HAS to work regardless of if you have paid service or not. I have not tested it in my own truck, but I wonder if it does indeed get to 911 eventually.

IIRC you can call your town's non-emergency police number and let them know you are about to test 911 and they should give a heads up to dispatch so they can say if it worked or not and ignore your non-emergency call.

FYI... Pressing the 911 button will call them even on converted trucks with the 8.4 upgrade if the mirror wiring is in place... No uConnect service needed... A few people confirmed it a few years back on the first 8.4 upgraded trucks... Oops sorry about that.

I have seen a couple of different makes of radios mentioned and problems associated. I have a 2017 with an Alpine system. Anyone know of problems associated with Alpine.

Updated my '16 Rebel (RA4/VP4 Nav) a few days ago. I can't tell any difference in the system....works fine. Strange thing is, I don't think the SW version changed. 17.43.01. But the constant update messages stopped.

I’m a brand-new member that’s just signed up today because I was prompted for this update. It should be updating as I type this. Anyone know approximately how long I should give it?

Gotta say I’m not real pleased how the radio is locked until the update is supposedly finished. Seems a bit too over-the-top invasive to me.
