Hi

New Ram truck owner here with a question about my 2016 Ram 2500. I just bought it a week ago.
4 x 2 , 6.7 Cummings 2500 6 speed automatic . It's job is to tow our camper.
The window sticker shows the truck has Anti Spin and all my goggle search's come up with how the anti spin works and such ,but not how to make it work.

Does it just work on it's own when the wheels spin? If so I still spin when I try and start off slow on a gravel slight up hill run towing my camper ( 7200 lb camper ). I do fine going slow with out the camper.

Is there some sort of on off switch I'm not finding ?

Do I maybe need to use the breaks for the ABS to help out or give it more gas if it starts to spin?
Just not sure how to handle this other than pave my camper drive way. Either that or sell the truck and go 4 x 4 . NOT.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Thanks
JimT

It’ll engage all on its own. When one start to slip it’ll grab “whatever magic it uses” and both tires will turn.

I take it the camper is a “ Bumper pull?” Some weight in the bed would help, also a good set of tires. The factory tires are absolutely worthless when it comes to traction.

Tires are on my list ,but I have to wear the ones on it out first. They have at least a years run on them still.
It is a bumper pull for sure. Don't think a 5th wheel would have been an issue. Tung weight is around 700 lbs when the camper is hooked up. I can see the truck squat down a few inches when the trailer gets hooked up. I thought that would be enough weight ,but is seems not.

My other issue is the crush and run rock was just put down a few days ago. It will take time for it to settle and harden . That should help me a lot also.

The main thing I thought would help has not. The Anti Spin has done little to nothing for me.

The HD’s have a really nice factory helical gear limited slip. Much better IMHO than the clutch type the 1500’s get.

You can “enhance” it’s engagement by dragging the brakes if you want but it works very well on its own.

It’s good enough to do this to heavy MT’s on dry pavement:

EDIT: just a thought, does your truck have a traction control button? I don’t remember what year they put those on the HD’s..........my 2010 CTD did not have it so no nannies were ever “getting in the way” if you know what I mean.

Wow, that it impressive. How'd you get it to do that? My 2500 won't even pick up a scratch.

Tuned & deleted CTD with 3:73’s!

To be transparent, that was the best/nastiest burn out I’ve ever done. You could see the difference in tread front to rear after that one, took a while to scrape the rubber out of the wheel wells.

I don’t recommend anyone to do this unless you have a Hellcat or something. For whatever reason I had a wild hair that day and an opportunity to do it so I let the 16 year old in my head get the best of me. I went all in and gave it all she had...........thankfully nothing broke and I got a cool “trophy” for the effort.

I concur. The limited slip on my truck kicks in fast and works beautifully. I off-road a lot and the slightest spin and both back tires will dig in. So good that I’ll prolly only put a front locker on and leave the rear alone.
