I'm getting ready to make my 1 wheel drive truck 2 wd with the Mopar anti-spin. I've searched and have not found any info on the carrier bearing side adjusters. I've done carrier/gear swaps on GM and Ford 8.8, but they use shims, not the adjusters.

If I remove the factory carrier that's in the truck now, can I do that without disturbing the adjusters, then install the new carrier (with new bearings already installed)??? Any links with instructions?

Good luck. I'm gonna pay to have it done. I've never done rear end work before. Let us know how it goes

You have to loosen the adjusters to get the old carrier out. Proper backlash & side bearing preload are achieved by tightening the adjusters.

I'd try Youtube and Google to see what pops up on installation. Otherwise, see if you can get a peak at the manual.

You could also try to find the installation of other brands on-line into your rearend but be sure to get the specs for the Mopar unit even if you need to measure yours before disasssembly.

Please post a few pix and info on your assembly.

I knew preload was achieved with adjusters but was not sure if I'd needed to loosen them or not to take the old carrier out. Thanks, that's helpful.

If I took the driveshaft out, I could measure rotating resistance at the pinion with my dial gauge before removing the original carrier, then make adjustments accordingly with the new bearings and carrier. I'd actually need more resistance with the new bearings.

Tks. I may contact Eaton and ask if they have instructions for their carrier for my application.

I'll post back what I find and any tips on the job.

Hope this helps!

The adjusters have to be backed off, possibly only one side will do.

Sorry, the pdf file is to large to post. I'm not sure how to select sections from the file.
