Has anyone been daring enough to cut through this area? The area right behind the map lights in the fabric liner facing a 45ish degree angle? I think it'd be a great spot for a handful of switches for Aux lighting and other goodies.

I was daring enough to cut into the bumper for rear LED lighting but the headliner.... I dunno about that...

It's just foam, there's not a whole lot of support there so you'd need to build a faceplate to mount everything to.

Yeah. Just cut my headliner out Saturday to install the overhead console. Just go slow and make sure you cut only what you need.

As stated above you'd have to figure out a way to make your switch panel rigid. Nothing behind there other than the retainer for the OH console and there's not much to it either.

I thought about mounting the reverse side of my dash cam there so I could get the entire bed of the truck and part of the cab in it... Haven't decided yet.

It would be easier to cut into the black plastic part of the bezel. I have an extra one with a switch hole already cut in it if you want something to play around with and not mess up yours...

Where would the switch go exactly? I don't see a lot of room to add anything in the black bezel part

I do like the rear camera in the cab idea though.

When my sunroof was installed the switch was where you see the white dot in the picture. I moved it between the lights when I added Homelink.

There is a lot of space in that area and the plastic gives you a nice firm mounting surface. I bet you could even find some switches that are angled so when they get mounted there, the switch faces are pointed towards you.

Looking at it again, that pop out blank (where the power slider switch goes) might be perfect for mounting a rear facing camera. My Blackvue 2ch rear camera would fit perfectly there.

Yeah I could mount a switch there for all of my emergency flashers. So I take it there's some room behind that plastic piece in the center?

Yes lots. If you don't want to cut yours, I'll give you my old one. Just pay shipping. I'll snap a picture if you're interested.

I would remove my outer bezel and keep that and the compass module but you have those parts. Your lights are the factory LEDs it looks like, you can swap those into this or just use these map light fixtures. I'll include some white or red LEDs if you want to use the fixtures in mine, I have lots of extra bulbs.

Here is the back of that area. You would have to do some careful trimming to fit more than one switch without compromising the rigidity, but once you installed the switches it would be pretty solid.

I'm thinking we can work shipping out later if your interested. I'll trust you...

I don't mind the cutting just not sure how it comes out. I don't want you to give your parts away if it's easy enough to remove the bezel itself.

Woops, I was mistaken about the light fixtures, they are not attached so yours would just plugin to this.

I won't use them and with the hole in it I can't really sell it. It's perfect to give away to someone looking to DIY something and give them 1 do-over!

It comes apart very easy, but use plastic auto trim removal tools and not screwdrivers or anything metal.

If you remove the whole bezel, just pull straight down from the cabin side. It's held in with spring clips from the front and the hooks are toward the windshield.

The black inner bezel is the opposite, there are a several plastic clips around the inner bezel and the hooks are on the cabin side in front of the map lights. It also has spring clips in the middle.

It is easier to remove the entire bezel, then separate the inner bezel. It will feel like you're gonna break something when you pull it, bit it'll pop free all at once.

Well if you aren't going to use it and won't sell it then I'll take it and use as a template. No harm in putting old parts to use again

OK pm me your shipping info and I'll send it out Monday. I'll use the cheapest shipping option USPS has. I think shipping will be under $10 but I'll snap a picture of the receipt.
