I have flat spot on my 5.7 between 2-3000 rpm. its 14 ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi 6 speed. only mods to the engine are a Corsa catback exhaust and Vararam intake.

I get on it an at about 2000 rpm and 3000, it seems to bog down then start picking back up after 3000. Don't remember this prior to the Vararam but then again, I didn't really push that hard when new.

I'm about to re-install the stock intake to see if it helps.

That is normal on the 5/6 speed trucks with the factory tq converter. These motors don't start making power until 3000 rpms. By replacing the factory 1900 stall converter with a 3000 stall converter, you will bypass that dead zone all together and be in the power the second you put your foot to the floor.

I have the 6 speed and have a flat spot at cruzing between 30-50 mph. From a dead stop or 60+ it hits hard but that flat spot is a big pain and flat out embarrassing. I think everyone will agree a bigger stall as Matt said is ideal. It's on my todo list but $ tired up in other mods at the moment.

thanks. I guess I won't be fiddling with the intake.

I think that's just the crappy 6 speed. From a dead stop, you wind out each gear, and its fine. when you drop to 30 and try to accelerate, it refuses to kick down a gear even when you stab at the accelerator. then you have to floor it just to get it to go, it down shift 2 gears and you go screaming off like a douche. I'm already saving to get a new truck after barely a year just because of the crappy trans, otherwise, I'd be driving this thing into the ground.

Ok guys good news. On another thread I was reading I found out a way to get around the flat spot. If you cruzing in that flat spot 30-50MPH you can push the - (minus) on the shifter and hold it down. It will drop immediately into 1st gear and put you into the power. I tested it last night and it worked, I was at 50MPH and held down the - on the shifter and it dropped from 6th into 1st and I was in the power. It shifted on it own from 1-2 and then 2-3. I would like to say I would not do this at a higher speed. But if you cruzing and someone pulls up next to you and wants to play, game on :naughty:

Mine lights up around 3300-3400 rpm.... it will launch hard before that but once it finds the power band around that range you can feel it pull harder... kinda like a shot of nitrous... Its weird Ive never had a vehicle do that.. and I have the R/T with a higher stall that comes in it... I'm actually wondering if I already have a 32-3400 stall in the truck

The stock RT converter is no better than the stock standard converter IMO. They claim that it is a 2600, but I have yet to see a 5/6 speed RT truck cut a better 60' than a standard express model truck with the same mods

If you had a 3400 stall converter, you wouldn't be able to make the tires stop spinning until about 50mph. The reason you have a flat spot is because the factory converter is only set around 2000rpms. Since the motor doesn't make good power until just over 3000rpms, it feels week until you rev into that 3000+ rpm range. With a 3400 stall converter, the second you hit the pedal, the tach instantly hits 3400 rpms, and the truck destroys the tires since you are right in the meat of the powerband. With a higher stall converter, you bypass that weak spot that you guys feel now, and launch at over 3000rpms where this motor screams.

I don't think you want to be downshifting from 6th to 1st at 50 mph.
