One should be good. The 4th gen Rams tailgate is pretty light.

i got one...had for 6 years or so and i love it... its worth it if you have a lifted truck..it keeps it from slamming down on you. worth every penny!!!

Got one on my '11, had one on my '05. love 'em and they are cheap, 15 min to put on too. You should get the lock for the tailgate, had one on my '05 and plan on getttin one for the new truck too, really nice-when you get out it unlocks and when you lock it's locked they are super nice, not hard to install either.

have one on my 06 (one is all that is needed) this is one of those mods you just keep putting off for some unknown reason(it is pretty cheap) then once you get it you kick yourself for not getting ASAP. Great mod will never own a truck without one again. One handed tailgate opening.

I had one on my 05. worked well till the attachment on the damper broke.
