Am I crazy for doing this? Its the perfect winter vehicle here in central Ontario: quality winter tires on steel rims, heated seats, bed cover, ram boxes, remote start, 4WD etc etc

Its just that I want to keep it in the pristine condition its in. I bought a 2016 Malibu for my winter driver. It also has snows, remote, heated seats etc. But in a recent snow event we had here, I cringed driving it, and I sure do miss my Ram.

Anyone else ? 20240603_111209_resized_1.jpg20241118_140714_resized.jpg

My old truck got put away for the winter, but it was more fun dragstrip toy then it was actual truck, lol. Truck was a 14,and lived in AB all it's life, and still looked this good underneath when i sold it a few months ago.

I have always had a second winter rat that I drove instead of my truck. Honestly, a front wheel drive with 4 snows is just easier to start and stop in the snow, and I never got stuck once in all my years up there. While I am further south now and get maybe 15 inches a year my last winter up north saw about 300 inches of the white stuff and we always hit near 200 regularly. I never toke my truck out until salt is done and gone.

My sierra 'technically' has better snow tires, and if I would of to crash I would rather crash the 1993 $hitb0x, but in reality the added weight of my ram makes it better on ice and the ground clearance helps in deep snow.

I drive the $hitb0x most days, but when weather gets bad I bring the ram.

Fwd cars in theory should do well, but after seeing several get stuck on flat ground with a little snow pack, I still wouldn't recommend it.

Not crazy at all. Keeping the Ram pristine makes sense, but I get missing it. Maybe take it out on lighter snow days to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Yes, my 2009 gets put stored in the Winter. For a Michigan truck it is in near new condition, inside and out. We have a 2012 Jeep Compass AWD that we bought new that is driven year round, and it is fantastic in the snow and ice. Keeping vehicles out of the salt and chemicals really saves them. If you can afford to put them up in the Winter, why not?

Being a old Ontario boy i can see why you do it, but at the same time why you spend all that money to make it drive in the winter and park it. When i lived their and still do it here my truck gets a weekly car wash with the underbody spray. They probably hate me as i crawl in and make sure the underbody has lots of time to work. My veh always look good and next to no rust on them. Of course i do my own style of undercoating as well that stops rust in its tracks every year or so as well..

The plan WAS to winter drive it, given its configuration. But when I had it up on the hoist doing the exhaust I couldnt get over how clean it was underneath. That's when in the back of my mind I knew I should put it away and keep it that way.
