Are these Climate Control Modules interchangeable?

Hi All,

New here but am not finding much information elsewhere. I've got a 2016 Ram 1500 5.7 Laramie with the dual temp zone that uses the 68268186AA climate control module. I believe I had some water leak into it from a plugged up passenger side sunroof drain line (a common issue I've found) and short the board. Problem is, the cheapest I'm finding this part is around $600. My question is would this part be interchangeable with part #68366552AA from the 2018-2024 models? Both parts look and seem to measure the same. Google AI is saying that 552 supersedes 186 and that it works, but every parts and Mopar site with a VIN checker says it won't.

Has anyone ran into this issue? Anyone know if the newer (and vastly cheaper) 68366552 is interchangeable with the 68268186?

Thanks in advance! Any tips or advice would be helpful.

I can't give you any assurance as to whether or not the newer part will specifically work in your case, but

I have many times used parts that MoparParts Giant, Mopar parts online, etc etc, said wouldn't work. 3/4 of the time, the part they say won't work is the one that Rock Auto says is correct.

For example, the 2000$ electronic power steering. The ******* "tech" at Rairdon Dodge in Bellingham tried to tell my that my truck couldn't be fixed because the steering gear had been "discontinued". But, he was at least willing to "cut me a good deal" on a new truck!

I got one that Mopar Parts Giant said wouldn't fit, that was for a 2022 Ram Classic, and it has been working perfectly since feb 2024.

Another example.

A couple months ago I replaced the water pump on my wifes 2011 Durango 5.7 Hemi, with this Mopar unit from Rock Auto. Mopar 5038668AD:

Here's what Mopar Parts Giant has to say about that water pump, as to it's fitment on the 2011 Durango 5.7

DUAL ZONE & the Single Zone would be different part #s

Have you pulled yours out where you can read the Number ?

Or have you looked at your Ram's BUILD SHEET, also called the Equipment Listing

use only capital letters

Maybe ask Benny, he will need your Rams VIN #
