Less than a year ago had an auburn lsd installed to replace replace to factory open diff in my 2012 1500. Yesterday driving through town I hear a loud clunk and the truck ****** doing about 45. This was followed by gear noise for about a minute. Drove home, this morning I go to drain the diff and a spring falls out and my heart drops. Pull the cover and I've got about a pound of springs and metal chunks sitting in the bottom of the case. The only offroad driving its seen is the occasional improved dirt road or beach driving. Diff was professionally installed at a reputable shop. Anyone experience this or had any dealings with auburns warranty people? Comes a week after a front hub went bad, fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong.

Sounds like the C-clip failed. If the housing has been damaged then you're looking at a whole new axle, if not you can clean it out and install a new set of gears but I'd recommend going to a Tru-Trac instead as it doesn't have the spring clips that can fail.

*I hate to do this.* TOLD YOU ALL SO!

Definitely look into anything other than another Auburn, even if Auburn warranties, see about a shop or supplier Credit/Trade.

FWIW one of our guys, the one I mentioned in that reply about Auburn's last year, also had his fail. When we priced out the cost of repairs and labor versus a low mileage take-off or factory new Anti-Slip he went take-off because when the Anti-Slip fails We've yet to see the same level of carnage.

**Sorry to read this happened to you.**

Auburn has contacted me. Was told a few units have failed possibly due improper assembly of the unit at their facility. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Ok, auburn should be shipping me a replacement today. Ordered my install kit from moes and found a shop that will install for under $250. Don't think I'll need new gears. Could have been alot worse. We'll see how the replacement diff works out.
