AutoPark?

was just back and forthing the new truck into the garage and something called autopark seemingly was engaged and I couldnt move forward or backward. The display kept telling me to put it in park, then in gear. But it was in park...
I shut it on/off a few times and tried shifting again. After about 6 tries it moved again.
Any idea whay autopark is and how I seemingly engaged it?

Did you have the driver's door open while you were jockeying the truck around in the garage??? That must be the new "feature" to keep the stupid people from running themselves over with their truck. It suppose to put the truck in "park" when you have a door open and are moving at a slow speed if I remember correctly.

Yeah your door is not completely shut. Still getting used to it myself, first couple of times it happened was super frustrating, my wife actually pointed it out and made sense.

I just got the letter yesterday from FCA wanting me to bring my truck in so they can turn autopark on since mine isn't activated. As soon as I opened it and seen the words "autopark activation" I threw it away. lol

No way in hell do I want that crap turned on, would make hooking up a trailer a complete pain in the ass.

I would not think so but who knows, they would probably do it and not tell you about it.
Need to figue out a locking cover to put over the port so they cant... lol


Or dont take the truck back in ever.

My dealer has always told me of any bulletins and asked me first if I want them to do the updates. So I would say that if you need to take it in for some reason, I would tell them don't do any updates without my approval.

with it being an actual recall, not a TSB, the dealer I would think would be required to do it.

Well it's a play on words, it's not actually a recall, it's a campaign. Now what exactly that means is up for interpretation.

I've refused updates in the past, they mark it on the system as owner refused update, now FCA isn't liable for any mishap I have since I chose not to have it done. You trade it in and they see these updates haven't been performed, they'll do so before selling it on the lot.

It's YOUR truck, they can't "require" you to do anything. This is merely a software update, and the truck isn't going to implode with you in it if it's not updated.

My dealer knows how paranoid I am with my vehicles, the last time I was there I asked if there were any TSBs, etc that applied to my truck. He looked it up, printed out what was appropriate (only 1) and came back to me asking if I wanted it. And he even said NOT to get it because it only applied to a certain CEL code that Ive never gotten.

Now, the upcoming cruise control thing I assume is mandatory, and that's fine. But when I bring my truck in for that I will make it very clear I do not want AutoPark enabled. Aside from the fact I dont actually want it, Im pretty sure it touches the TCM which means who knows what for shift quality down the road.

I had the cruise update done and they did the autopark as well. I was told it would void the warranty if I refused to have em turn it on due to the recall
I was told it only worked if the door opened and moving faster than 7 mph

FCA US LLC regards safety as paramount and does not compromise on the safety of our customers and their families. Your confidence in our products and our services is of utmost importance to us. As a result of our commitment to you, we will periodically recall a vehicle to correct a problem or improve overall performance.

What is a safety recall?
Safety recalls include any problem encountered with an FCA US product related to the safe operation of the vehicle or the safety of the occupants. FCA US will correct the problem, at no charge, even if the vehicle is out of warranty and you are not the original owner.


What is a campaign?
A campaign is a vehicle problem that is not a safety concern. There are two types:

Emissions Recall - Emissions are problems related to the Federal emissions warranty standards. FCA US will correct the problem, at no charge, even if the vehicle is out of warranty and you are not the original owner.

Customer Satisfaction Notification - A Customer Satisfaction Notification (CSN) is preventive in nature and involves warranty or customer satisfaction issues that are non-safety related. FCA US will correct the problem, at no charge, even if the vehicle is out of warranty and you are not the original owner.
