I have a 2016 RAM 2500 POWER WAGON LARAMIE CREW CAB 4X4.
It has the manual transfer case and locking front and rear axles
I know it has a 4.10 rear axle...but I can't find the ring gear diameter which is how a lot of parts are identified

Just trying to do some maintenance and the internet isn't being very helpful. If you guys can identify my components and if you know of links to information sheets or anything of the sort, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for the help

This site informs you about your Ram, if it is newer than 1997

Use only CAPITAL Letters

1/2 ton Dodge Rams have the 9.25" or 215 mm Rear Axle
it could have been DANA 8.5, then later AAM 9.25 or ZF 215 mm, depending on the year

there are also other Ring Gear sizes
10.5
&
11.5

2014-2016 Dodge Ram 2500 11.5" Ring and Pinion OEM Gear Set
likely made by AAM
factory gear ratios 3.42, 3.73, and 4.10.
14 bolts

Yes VCA RAM, I understand that. But how do I identify mine?

Do I need to purchase 3, 4, 5, or 8 Liters of gear oil?

It should be the 11.5" rear axle.
Gear oil usually comes in quart containers, and a quart is fairly close to a liter. With that said if you wanted to get by with buying the smallest amount possible I would start with 4 quarts. That is about 3.8L and will either completely fill it or be just slightly low. Keep in mind that even if 4.1L is the max full that only running 3.8L isn't going to make it explode or anything. If you needed a little more fluid you could order another quart or drive down to the local parts store and get some, and fill it up when you got home. Honestly if 4.1L was the max fill you could run it with 3.8L in it forever without any issues. As long as the level is fairly close it will be fine in this situation....whenever you rely on the "right level" being on it running out of a hole and no consideration if you are on a completely level surface (side to side or front to back), it will be fine.

If you have the 11.5, it will require 3.8 quarts to fill. Although I don't think it hurts anything, Ram doesn't recommend that you fill it all the way until it starts coming out of the fill hole, but instead about 1" below. I stick my pinky in and if my fingertip can touch the fluid, I call it good.

Not sure if this is helpful at all but up until around 16/17 (I think) the 2500s had the same rear axle as the SRW 3500. My 2014 is one such beast and has a 6500# RAWR. Newer years after the change had a different rear axle from the SRW 3500 and had a slightly less 6000# RAWR. Not sure if/how this figures into your situation but it's a "quirk" I thought I'd mention just in case.

I think I recall that at least the housing was the same on my 16 3500 vs my old 12 2500.
