I have been talking to dealers about ordering a new 3500. One and only one out of about 6 told me that they were out of axles and waiting for more. Anyone know anything about this?

The gearsets are the same as the 2500's, so the only difference is the axle tubes because of the different suspensions. I haven't heard anything about problems with them so unless they just ran out I doubt it.

Why not just order from one of the 5 that told you there was no issue?

That's the plan. I just don't want surprises. another dealer told me I can't order the 8.4an in the 3500 and I could only order the 8.4a ! I know same size unit and everything. You're going to deal with **** no matter who you go with (usually).

Ok. So I meet the guy buying my truck at the bank. I tried cleaning it as well as I could. Its in the teens today and i took it to a self serve sprayer car wash to get salt off. Of course, when I got to the bank it was already dirty. So the guy looks it over and likes it a lot (of course). I wouldnt buy it like that cause you cant see any defects/scratches etc. but thats just me. He has seen recent pictures though and my ride is in mint shape.

When I originally talked to the guy on the phone, he said he would have a cashiers check from his bank (bank of america) and give me the difference in cash. I told him that there is a waiting period for the check to clear even though its a bank check. He lives 2 hours away. I was hoping he would bring cash ($30k). Its not like its in an alley and im going to jack him. Hes going from his car into the bank. He said dont worry they know him at his bank and can verify everything. So, Im like ok. So thats exactly what he brought, a check paid to my bank where the loan is and the difference in cash. We go into the bank and tell them whats going on and I ask and want to be assured that the check is good and they said yes and its good as cash, but there could be few days for it to clear and to get the lien release. I said ok and asked if there is a way to put a stop on the check. They said YES! Its expensive , but it can be done. I forgot what its called, something like an annuity insurance bond or whatever. Anyway, I was immediately at a halt and told the guy Im uncomfortable doing this and told him this is what i figured when i told him about the clearing time on the phone. So, we go back and forth trying to make it work (with the people at the bank). This is a craigslist transaction , not through a dealer. We even went to his bank which was right down the road. They were going to reverse the check and give him cash which he said he would do. But they couldnt cause it was made out to my bank and if he would have just wired it , it would have been instant funds to my bank. The reason he didnt do that was because at first he thought if he didnt like the truck or something, the funds would be gone. So, we get back to my bank and the guy says he would let me keep the title and take the truck if i write him a receipt. Then send him everything later. So, i think if he totals the truck on the way back to his house, I still own it and there could still be a stop put on the check. even though it was insured. I told him, I was sorry for the inconvenience and we shook hands and he was dissapointed and so was I. the guy was really cool and seemed like a decent guy, but I was just protecting myself and being extra cautious. If it was 3k, I would have done it, but its 30k.
Then he called me after about an hour later and said he would wire the money to my bank and have me just sign the title and his friend would give me the cash difference and come pick it up tomorrow.Whew! So, tomorrow is the day. I thought I was going to cry today, but looks like it will be delayed for a day :) I wouldnt dare do what this guy is doing with my cash, but thats just me also. If I give someone 30k, I want a title and a lien release no ifs ands or buts about it! Funny thing is I had a guy from connecticut that wants it too and he wanted to come pick it up. He said he had cash. IDK about that but....Cash talks

In the past what I've done is park the truck on private property somewhere safe (like your driveway), pull the plates in front of the buyer, write a receipt to the buyer specifically for the check number to protect them (receipt is useless without proof the check cleared), and make the buyer wait until the check clears. Once the check clears, give over the title/lien release so the buyer can go get their own plates to take the truck.

Well. This guy is pretty trusting. Cause he already wired the money to the bank and paid off the loan. I now have a truck that I owe nothing on (title still in my name) and he isnt here yet. So, if he dies within the next couple of hours.........
I know, Im pretty sick

Truck is gone. Now I'm just trying to get the dealer to come down to around $40k on the 3500 big horn 4x4 crew cab. I want 6.4 hemi, 4.10 axle, hd plow prep,luxury/comfort group, 8.4an, bucket seats, adjustable pedals, block heater, parksense and parkview, speaker upgrade, clearance lamps, rear defrost, CD,alarm, 5th wheel prep, and spray liner. I don't think they are going to do it. I got to 42 so far

I had almost the same setup on the 1500 big horn truck I just solld. I had everything on that except sunroof, air suspension, and ram box.

I might wait and see if rebates get better If they don't hook me up. In the meantime, I'm going to ride my girlfriends lifted f350! we are getting the tranny fixed. It's an 03 and a little rough but it's big!

I wouldn't go backwards that's for sure try and stick with your slt. I'm having regrets about not going nicer 1 short year later.

Oh I know. I thought about going to a trades man. I really want that cluster and the comfort group though. But, I'm talking around$550 payments for6 years. I was at$440 before. I'm not a six figure person but I could do it. I'm just trying to decide if I want it bad enough.or if I'm Just going to go used or what.
