My 2017 with 8.4 radio and factory backup camera has been having some weird issues. It happened only twice but got a scrambled screen. Today when backing up I only got a black screen. Any thoughts?

The radio
I have the same issues.
Radio under warranty is getting replaced.
It controls everything.
It had my phone dialing 911 .

No radio stations etc

Hoping that isn't it as the camera is the only thing affected (so far). But it would justify me moving to 8.4 UAC if that was the case.

So and update. I cleaned the connector at the tailgate with contact cleaner and used some Quicksilver dielectric grease and seems to be working 100% again. It had gotten to the point any type of moisture, rain or car wash caused it to go out. So finger crossed it stays good to go.

So, now that it's been a while, has the issue flared up again? I'm having just an occasional issue with my camera. Seems to give me black screens, scrambled picture, but only about 1 or 2 times per 2-3 weeks, other than that, it works perfectly. Not sure if I should just live with that or try to fix it. It's not common and very sporadic.

Which connecter did you clean? Is there one underneath or one if you open the tail gate ??

@2DirtyKids -- I'm interested in learning which connector and where it is. I have the exact same problem with my 2015. Usually if I get out and slam the tailgate it fixes it for a few stop-starts, but that's no way to live!

I had the same issue with the backup camera in my 2016. The dealer replaced the actual camera 3 times and the radio head unit once. Problem returned, usually within a few months.

Finally, a different tech worked on it and found out the wiring harness that runs from connector under the rear bumper up through the tailgate to the camera was faulty. Replaced that over a year ago and have not had any problems since.

Had the same issue. Dealer replaced the harness to the camera said it was a known issue. No problems for a couple years now.

Howzit buddy. Behind your left front wheel there is a multipin connector. Check that plug it's a naughty one clean in and make sure it clips
