So I’m getting ready to swap out my radio and I know I need to disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

I have an aftermarket remote start (Doug from eBay) and I have a diablo tuner, will disconnecting the battery mess either one of these up? I wouldn’t think so because both flash the PCM, just double checking.

I know my remote start came with a warning label saying something about truck may start if battery is disconnected and connected.

The remote start doesn’t work, I emailed “Doug” to see if I need to reflash the unit.

maybe a stupid question...but why do we disconnect the negative instead of the positive terminal on the battery? or does it matter?

You disconnect the negitive terminal first to prevent a direct short if you loosen the positive terminal and touch ground with the wrench.

Omg, that brought back a bad memory! I did that, touched the frame with the wrench while loosening the positive nut. A wrench can carry a great amount of current and makes a pretty blue flash!! Disconnect the negative first, always!!
