Where did you get the lights at?
I was thinking about getting 2 sets of the ones at Walmart for like $20/set I think there's 8 per box and another 7-8 for a pin switch.

I have a 2014 without factory bed lighting. How are you all wiring it etc?

I wired mine directly to the battery and ran a switch to the bed up through behind the tail light. I like being able to switch them on apart from the cargo lights without fiddling with the key fob. And I can leave them on as long as I want.

Yes, they come on with the key fob or use the cargo light switch on the dash for extended time
This is why I connect mines like that. It go on with the key when you open the car and with the factory switch in the dash. I dont see any better way.

BTW guys. I have Leds modules that I can offer for 27$ shipped for 20 pieces. 10 for each side. They are brighter than any you can find.

I added a red led light strip 2 years ago and tied them into my factory bed lights. The factory lights are good for the rear of the bed, not so much up front. I ran one strip all the way around. The front has been beaten up from hauling things, but it still works for the most part.

Gonna add bed lights to the truck. Are the factory ones worth the $100 or is it better to go aftermarket?
You'll be receiving many opinions about the "best" way to go. A light of any kind in the bed, if you have a bed cover, is a wonderful option. I decided to go with the LED strips like the ones in the following link from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MMYQPL2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I connected them to the always hot wire in my trailer plug. I placed the switch that's included with the light strips on the right (passenger) side of the bed so I can turn on the lights without being near the traffic if I'm on the side of the road. The lights use such a small amount of electricity that I've forgotten to turn them off until the next day and the truck still started just fine. I may put an adjustable timer control in the circuit someday to turn them off automatically but that doesn't seem to be an urgent issue. Lights in the bed at night are a really good thing.
