Bed gate, difficult to adjust or remove, and costly

Bed bar, inexpensive and can easily be removed or adjusted.
where do you find a bed bar?

just looked up bed bars and really does not apply for small items rolling around in bed.

I have 3 large totes with lids that I put everything in and bungee cords across the top. They sit perfectly side to side.
I also have a load bar in front that keeps them at the back against the tailgate.

I was just thinking cheap, easy install, and easy removal when needed. Not sure how small the items are you mentioned. I know cargo nets start at about $25 and can be found at almost any auto parts store or Lowe's or Home Depot.

I used an ABN cargo bar purchased off amazon for nearly a year before it bent and became unusable. For $30, not bad.

Not really as those are more for over the bed rail use

I think he might have been talking about something like this. Just to hold the stuff at the back of the truck. Not an actual cargo net

ideapro Rear Cargo Net, Bungee Car Elastic Netting Carrier Trunk Storage Organizer Net for SUV Jeep Truck, 35x12 Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G4TQKU4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_i.5qDb1E5NJZ5

My escape had one but I never used it cause I had 4 12” pioneer subs in the back lol

Yep - this works perfectly in soggy, soggy Oregon as well (when the kids are visiting, otherwise I just chuck it all in the back.) Instead of a official/proper bed bar, I just use a cheapie shower curtain screw-tension style rod - so far it's held just fine w/ no issues.
