Alright i have a single ported foxbox with a alpine type r 10" sub(i think its a 4ohm not sure). What is a good "compatible" amp for this sub and box. I have had a 1200w 2ch powerbass on it and its just doesn't sound right. Maybe i'm just being too picky. The box was bought 2nd hand and it wasn't sealed right. I tried opening it up and resealing it but it looked like it was going to tear the carpet on it so i sealed it the best i could. It sounded 100% better but still doesn't sound like it should. I've had the amp bridged for mono and normal and it still sounds the same. It just doesnt have that tight snappy bass like a 10 should have. Its more like a crappy sounding 12 with a little amp on it. Thats the best i can explain it lol but dont get me wrong it still sounds decent. Anyone else have this sub? What are you running?

I didn't think foxbox's were carpeted?? Mine is line-x coated and I've only seen black plastic or line-x coated boxes they make?
But I've got a JL 500/1 v2 amp pushing both of my type r 12's and it does more than I need it to.

I agree...the JL 500/1 will do a great job. So will the Alpine MRP-M500. I'm still using one of those in my truck, pushing a Type S 10" and it works great.

I'm running the Alpine PDX-M6 (600WattRMS) with my 12" Alpine Type R in a sealed Fox Box and it is perfect. I listen to a lot of Metal and it hits perfect. Sounds really good with Rap music as well.

I actually have a JL 500/1 amp i bought a few years back. It started making my battery die so i took it out. JL wanted 180 to fix it. It might be worth looking into because it is one bad little amp.

I have a punch 500.1 BD amp and hammers my 10" JL 2ohm. You can get them on amazon for a great price. I would say it as good as the JL 500 but at half the price.

I have a Pioneer GM-D8500M (1200W max.) amp and it pounds my 2 ib-Flat shallow mount 10" Pioneer subs. I've got them in a sealed box under my back seat. I've had a few cars with different stereos and this is by far the best set up yet. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I second the kicker amps.. Kicker makes a great amp. My favorite feature is the remote gain.

Convert, for now.
Engine
small
budget and is the woofer a dual 4, if so, that makes a big difference in amp chosen.
