As we all want to save bread and not pay unnecessary money for things we can fix ourselves , i wanted to see the best route to fix these scratches:

Car is White, 3 minor tailgate dents, scratches on top of tailgate starting from the middle and right. and one small scratch on the passenger side bumper

I saw there’s some cost effective products that work with scratches. any recommendations/ things I would need?

White is the easiest color to repair. Get your paint code. Get some paint that matches. Finish with scratch remover compound on a foam buffing wheel. A drill will work.

I just got a Lexus ready to sell. Silver is a tougher color, but I made great improvements to the paint without spending $1,000. Just be careful you don't burn through the paint.

Those are too deep just to polish out, sorry.
That's a bargain, unless you're an experienced paint and body guy, trust me, those will look worse if you do it.
Or...
Sell it and start over, that way you get a new truck? lol

If you're keeping your rig and have some extra $$ to address this then go for it.

You could also look at a used tailgate as white is the most common colour you'll find and just replace it altogether and then the entire tailgate issue of dents and scratches is addressed.

As for the bumper, polish with some proper compound and then touchup with a colour-matched paint pen and buff afterward. Best DIY solution IMHO.

If you're thinking about doing this so you can resell... for the $1K just to address scratches..you'll not get that back on the flip as it's already 12 years and x-amount of miles on it currently.

Clean it all nicely, shampoo the engine and flip it as is.

Wet sand them. Some of them you will just have to live with touch up paint. Some of them I could get them almost if not all out with a good cut and then polish. My Ram had similar scratches and that is what I did.

if your not familiar with doing that type of work leave it to the professional. You can do more damage than good and it could cost you way more to get repaired after your done trying. The price you were quited was not bad.

sand, clean the surface, body filler, sand, primer, touch up paint, clear coat and polish. Going to try this really take my time and make sure to not rush anything.
