I think the GM test was way back, but yes on the other notes. I think engineer tests were a year or two apart as well.

I think there's a lot of (needless??) psycho-analyzing on oil filters and I wonder to what extent it really matters this day and age? I know a guy who's been buying Walmart oil & filters probably since the mid-80's and he gets real high miles out of his cars (no they're not MDS Rams). His cars rust out before the engines fail. Sure, most of his miles are hwy commute miles.

I also know a guy who in the 80's who used to get regular company cars. He was issued an early-80's Impala with Chevy 350. Back then Mobil commercials used to tout how great Mobil-1 was. So, he put Mobil one in the Impala after the first oil change, and ran it for 80k miles and never changed it once (added more as needed) until he was issued another car 2-3 yrs later. He said the oil looked NEW even at the point he got rid of the car! Turns out, a collegue who also worked at the company bought the Impala for his wife (then kids) to drive. They drove it for many yrs till it basically rusted apart. He said it went well over 200k mi. He told my buddy (who used to see each other at regional meetings) it was the best darn car he ever owed, and never burned a drop of oil between changes ...LOL. (note: he never told him he ran it almost 80k mi w/o changing the oil!)

I'm not advocating that but... interesting story. I changed my Jetta TDI oil every 10-12k miles (Rotella T6/Mann filters) for well over a decade. One time I went 14k between changes (I needed to add a couple qts of course). It's almost got 300k on it now and engine looks great inside the valve cover. Ok, majority of those are HWY miles.

@Jeepwalker - no, this is all about continuing the life of Hemi engines due to their poorly-lubricated cams. The level of anality presented here is all about this.

Engines that are adequately oiled aren't too concerned with filter restriction. You could use a paper filter for them.

The guy asked for the best possible oil filter, what should we talk about feelings instead of facts? Shame on the OP for wanting a great quality oil filter, he should use the cheapest on the shelf? I don't get those constant posts we get/. There is an example of my daddy grand dad did this and he was fine for 100 years. OK, so just say that but why complain about people who find this subject interesting and worthy.
