Just bought the K&N today. Haven't installed it yet. Got it at Pep Boys and they're currently running an off of 25% of anything over 100$. Originally 275, brought it down to 225 out the door.

for the best HP gain leave the factory Cold Air Intake system in place and leave the aftermarket Hot Air Conversion on the vendors shelf

you will lose HP for sure, all you get is induction noise (which sounds nice and make you think you are going faster) but feeds the engine Hot Air from under th hood and you lose dude .......

IF you were to lose the 4.7L engine hat and flexible intake hose I would agree with the above 100%. As is the K&N is a heat saturated noise maker, but the OEM causes turbulence and back pressure in the name of noise reduction.

You get no respect from mfgrs for the 4.7L so finding an enclosed CAI like S&B or Volant may not be possible. The alternative would be a smooth intake pipe running from the stock ari box to your throttle body. Not sure who makes such a thing at t reasonable price. :throw:

Having spent a schwack of $$, I say:
-Stock box assenbly
-Green or S&B panel filter
-DIY "ram air" into bottom of air box.
