I just bought a set of crane 212x cams for my 4.7l and Im thinking about doing heads while im in there. I've seen the ported heads on airram.com but they seem overpriced in my opinion. Are there any other good options?

Nope. Buy theirs, or get yours done. Only other option you have would be to try to see if a set 08+ heads will work. No one I know of has successfully put them on and verified there's no PTV issues, etc. At least no one has reported doing so lol. Are you going to do any other supporting mods to go with those cams (decent exhaust, 08+ intake manifold, gears, etc)?

Yes Im looking at doing headers and exhaust too because the stock exhaust manifolds and y pipe are pretty restrictive. Also the guy I bought them from said that the sct tuning tu good for the cams. And I wasnt thinking about doing the intake manifold because I've heard the '05 is comparable to the HO manifold do you think the 08 conversion would be worth the money? Has anyone here gotten the ported heads from airram?

Well...the HO 4.7 was 260hp...the 08+ 4.7 was 310hp with those heads and manifold...if I had a 4.7 it would be on my list. Just need the adapter for your TB since 08+ 4.7 was FBW and had a different style TB on it.

Best thing for a 4.7 is a scrap yard. Mercedes/Pentstar was junk. I had one in a 12 it was the worst engine I’ve ever owned!

You do realize the 4.7 predates Daimler lol? It was engine Jeep already had on the drawing board that Mopar ran with and didn't execute very well lol...unfortunately you can't blame the Germans for that one. As for the Pentastar 3.6, it's a decent engine; just not in a truck. I thought that was the worst decision they made to make that the base engine in a pickup. Blame the Italians for that one lol.

Any other head porting option other than Airram?

Any competent shop should be able to do a P&P job on any cylinder head, just Airram has the most experience with the 4.7 (no one else gives a **** about it lol) and will most likely provide the best result.
