Best trans tune?

Hey guys!

Wondering if anyone could help me out with this question.

Just put a built valve body into my truck, has all the goodies, oversized switch valves, updated solenoid switch valves & plugs, gasket separator, etc.

Since the switch valves are oversized and therefore harder to move as i could imagine, my OD CVI & other CVIs climbed up. I would like to get a tune to bring pressure way up from stock so i can get those values down. And i would like higher pressure to keep the clutches happy just during normal driving. I hate how lazy it shifts stock, so i want the shifts firmed WAY up.

Flyin Ryan youll get a custom engine tune at the same time witch is highly recommended as the OEM tune is ******* junk.


Either way you will need HP Tuners for both these guys.

I'm planning on 8 spd swapping my 4.7 later this year or next year, so that'll be fun! It'll also be fun possibly having the only 4.7/8sp 1500 in existence..

@DILLIGAF - I've been wanting to upgrade my RFE valve body too, but I already have an inline tunebox in my truck (Diablosport Pulsar Edge). I'm an old guy not well versed in modern fly-by-wire engines. Do you think I'd have to take the tune ECM off in order to upload the performance trans tune?

Or should I be asking the trans tune guy?

SoundGerman specializes in the 8hp70 trans......no rfe's mentioned so don't think he does anything with these.
Performance tunes for your 2017 will require removal of Pulsar and an unlocked PCM

FWIW, I have custom tunes from 3 different well respected tuners, for the RFE Hemifever is hands down the best at tuning the RFE out of the 3. Shifts are quick and firm but not harsh. The other 2 can't seem to figure out why my truck bogs down on the 1-2 shift...

Would also require dumping my two ECMs for an unlocked though, right?

Would like to do before truck gets too old (2017), but extended warranted for 2 more years. What to do?

As far as I know the RFE trans is controlled by the PCM in the engine bay, no separate TCM like the 8 speeds. So you should only need an unlocked PCM for your truck...

Nope, same one as everything else. As far as I know even with a separate TCM in the 8 speed trucks its still tuned thru the OBD2 port...

Thanks, @Hemi395 I'm a dope when it comes to software manipulation. As Henry Ford said, "I don't need to know everything - pay people to do that for me."

I dropped a note to Hemifever and told them what I wanna do. I'm hoping the Pulsar Edge "tow" tune only affects the engine parameters.
