Trying to find a good quality screen replacement or a new infotainment system that's not going to break the bank.

Between this and the exhaust manifolds I've been thinking about getting into something else Chrysler just not doing it for me anymore.

You're looking for model number LA084X01 SL 03. SL 01 AND SL 02 are older parts that may still delaminate like your current screen under high temperature.

You'll pay a premium for the SL03 but it's "supposed" to be free from delaminating issues. You can pick up the earlier part numbers for pretty cheap now though...

It’s got a Hemi in it
Hit up Crutchfield and find something you like.

That aside, all makes have their quirks. They’re in this for the CAFE MPG brownie points. That means that fit and finish and infotainment gizmos get the bottom of the barrel bids from vendors.

Honestly I bought a screen off Amazon (still an SL02) for less than $300 and installed it in about an hr and a half. Pretty simple job. I can't say how long it would've lasted because my radio had other issues eventually, but I've done it before and had no issues for the following 3-4 years that I owned the truck.

Junsun makes some replacement head units and that's ultimately what I went with. I like it overall, but it has some quirks that they're trying to work out with mine now. The volume controls have randomly reversed where up is down and down is up. But... the whole unit cost a little more than the screen on the UConnect. I think the others cost some serious $$$. If they don't fix this one, I'm going back to the 8.4.

For a new screen assembly....

Get a new (LA084X01 SL03) Screen/Digitizer assembly (definitely not an SL01 version… SL02 maybe) ~ $200 -$300 and replace it yourself…. Or send it off to United Radio (Peachtree GA) or NavRepair (FL)

PS: there's another aftermarket option using an idatalink Maestro interface with Sony 10.1 screen kit from ProlificAudio see install here.
(Still requires the 8.4 HVAC system/conversion setup as if the truck had factory 8.4 radio.)
