Anybody know what the biggest size USB drive the U Connect system will read in the new 2019 Ram 1500.
I have 4GB and 8GB sticks but would to purchase some bigger size drives. Some systems will not read bigger drives.
Cheers.

I know with the older UConnect radios you could run just about any size USB drive you wanted to if you formatted it to FAT32(I have a 64G USB drive in mine).
With the 12" UConnect it's possible to use a 1TB M.2 SSD drive in USB C shell.
Which UConnect radio do you have?

Hi Crash68,
I was asking because I put in a 32GB USB drive in either USB1 or 2 up front and it did not work. I have the 8.4" U Connect /Alpine system. I'm going to pick up a drive this morning and thought maybe it won't read anything past 16GB. It reads my 4 and 8GB drives fine.

I use a 128GB USB drive.

If a USB drive doesn't work in your vehicle then it needs to be re-formatted to FAT32. Most USB drive's sold today are not built in that format.

The cut off point is 32G as they usually come formatted as exFAT.
This is a portable app you can use to format any size USB flash drive to FAT32: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm
It doesn't install anything on the computer, it's just an executable. I've used this many times.

Windows doesn't offer the option for over 32G drives unless you want to use a command line prompt

I have two mini thumb drives. A 16GB (USB-A/C) and a 32GB (USB-A) thumb drive that both work. I didn't have to change the format or download anything to make them work.

One of the reasons I kept the drives "small" is so that I wouldn't have to do any hocus pocus for them to work. That and I'm not interested in managing 5,000 songs while I'm driving.
