I have a 2015 Tradesman quad cab and getting ready to do the Bilstein 2.1 level. Does anyone have pics of a 2.1 level with tires in that size. (285/70/17) I want to verify the look. I have searched the forums and don’t see much when it comes to 17” tires. Thanks!

Closest I have. Mopar "two inch" lift (Bilsteins at highest setting, progressive lift coils in rear supplying somewhere between 2 and 3 inches of lift) with 285/70R17 Continental TerrainContact on stock 3rd gen Ram 1500 17x8" wheels, no spacers.

Sorry I don't have any particularly great photos, I haven't deliberately taken any just these I took to show friends and family on Facebook our progress in getting ready to move, and the moment where our every material possession in the world fit in three parking spaces :)

Looking forward to some pictures if that's possible. Are you going to take before & after measurements? I'd like to do the Bilstein I front also in the future.

How do the 255/80/R17 tires drive, ride, handle? I've thought about that size but it seems to be hard to find.

I’ll take the measurements before and after. I got them delivered and will be calling the shop in the morning to schedule the install and alignment for the strut work. I plan to swap the rears over Bilsteins as well for ride quality, but will do that myself when they come in.

I don't have any complaints about them that I could attribute to the size, they had endless traction and never felt out of control on the road. The Cooper STMaxx were really loud for an all-terrain. I decided to switch over to Continentals after a great experience with them on my other 4x4 so that meant a new size since the Continentals aren't available in 255/80

In 2015 there were only 2 different tires available that size, now you can get Nittos, Falkens, three different Toyo tread patterns... on top of the BFGoodrich KM2's and the STMaxx that were available back then. And probably some of those Chinese tires too.

Got the kit installed today and wish I had done it a long time ago. I don’t have the new tires yet, but a noticeable difference. I set the shocks on 2.1 and ended up with around 2 inches or so of lift depending on which side you measure. I still have just shy of 1/2” rake which will allow for level if I have a bed of stuff. As well, I truly think it would have been nose high if I had went with the 2.8 setting.

Got the truck back at the shop. I heard a little rattle earlier today from the front end when I went over some bumps. After a careful inspection, they put the washer under the nut on top instead of putting it under the spring cap. They pulled it straight in and swapping it around now.

Back in business. The “rattle” seems to be gone now that they put the washer in the right spot.

This was my previous RAM. Same setup as you requested (Bilstein's 2.1 and 17" KO2's).....

looks really good. I much more appreciate the look of this level of rise, moreso than the over done 4 and 6 inch lifts - not a fan. You done good.

I have everything finished up now and rolling along.

Bilstein 5100 Shocks up front set @ 2.1
Bilstein 5100 Shocks in the rear
17x8 wheels from a earlier model (2003) to ensure proper width wheel for the new tires
AMP Terrain Pro LT285/70/17 tires

Ride quality is totally better now. I wish I had done this when the truck was new.

So how far back in model years can one go when looking at wheels that will fit newer trucks? I would like to have a 17x8 wheel eventually. Any issues with TPMS?

Not sure on the years that will work. I went ahead and added new sensors since mine were 5 years old. The tire shop installed for a decent deal. Install, new sensor, programming, mount and balance was less than $40 per wheel. That’s about $30 per sensor plus mount and balance.

Those wheels somehow look better on your truck than mine :D

I think the tire shop only charged me $15 extra (total) for TPMS service when I first got the 2003 wheels. So the whole mount/balance/TPMS/etc service was under $100 on top of the rubber itself.

Meant to shout out a special thanks to @kurek for the late night pictures of his wheel spacing to make sure the OEM wheels would fit with the LT285 tires.
