Did you paint the grill inserts? If you did, what type of paint and did you remove them to paint them. I stopped at a body shop yesterday to see about painting mine, and they aren't a fan of painting over chrome.

the inserts are not real chrome, but that doesn't mean they are great at getting paint to adhere to them either.

as much as a lot of people say they hate the idea of plasti dip it works great at adhering well the the plastic chrome inserts. With plasti dip they can be done on or off the truck. I took them off.

Super easy to make these black. Here is a step-by-step video I made on my truck on how to get it done with plasti-dip. It has held up great one year later and no touchups needed

Some don't mind dipping parts on a $50k truck. I don't like the idea of it. The swap was easy for me, and I was after the honeycomb look anyway. Good to have options, just not one I'd pick as my first choice.

Boosted- the one thing I'd recommend is to remove the grille inserts, and paint them off the truck. In the video, the underside of the slats isn't covered well, and I see shiny peeking out.

But that's for a shiny framed grille, not black. Not quite the same

To each his own I suppose. I don't see your $50k truck point though as you then said you put a base model honeycomb grille on it.. .

Can't see the underside of the grille slats unless the truck is on a hoist

Where are you located? I'm sure someone near by with the honeycomb grille would swap you inserts. I think I'd prefer the inserts you have to my honeycomb.
