Blackstone - used oil analysis

I have searched the forum and have not seen this....if it does exist, moderators please delete.

I have seen on other forums that there was a Blackstone used oil analysis thread. A thread for members to post UOA on for everyone to see.

I am waiting on my next oil change, then I will be sending off a sample and I will post it here in this thread.

If you have a report and wouldn't mind posting it for the benefit of rest of the group, please do so.

Last, lets keep it on topic........posts of UOA reports ONLY. If we don't, we will have reports and the comments will go wild.

Welcome, we post our uoa's in the syn oil thread, also we have the Syn's pennzoil uoa program for pennzoil products. looking forward to seeing it, Burla

I will go back and post mine here as well.

The first one was a one year OCI with a ticking hemi cured by redline, the second one is a two year oci, and soon to come a third uoa with another 2 years on the oil, 10k miles. These are 5w20, the next one will be 5w30. The second one I changed the filter at 14 months and topped off, the next one I went the entire two year just on the oil and RP filter no added oil needed.

@smiley would you please make this thread a sticky? I think most would agree it's worthy, given the buzz around Hemis and their oil. Thanks!

I don't use Blackstone, but the info is the same. There are three samples on this. First is factory mystery fill and the other two are Amsoil 0w-40 SS from my '16 2500/6.4 CCSB.

I currently have PUP 5W-20 in my truck now and when I change the oil I am going to take a sample and send it off to Blackstone.

After all the positive talk of this oil, I am surprised to see the low levels of Moly in it. But still, it is holding up real well.

Nice report.

The theory behind the moly is that it might be a newer type (tri nuclear), which is as effective in lower levels as traditional moly (like you would see in Pennzoil conventional at about 170ppm).

Yeah I think that is perfectly adequate for most engines, ones that tick may benefit from a super dose like in some products. From link 75ppm ends up with similar friction coefficient as 200ppm. So guys even low levels of moly is awesome, really makes a difference over no moly. In link, Trimer = trinuclear, and Dimer = dinuclear.

First one is 2500miles PYB 5w20, next one 1500 miles is Redline 5w20, next one 4100 miles is Redline 0w30, next one 3300 miles is PUP 0w40/5w30 mix. The short runs were me testing oils trying to quiet Hemi tick...

Nope. I did run Amsoil but I never did a uoa on it...

Has anyone tuned there trucks? I have a hemifever tune 89 octane. I'm just curious if there's any changes in anyone's UOA? I have a 2014 Ram 1500 5.7 8 speed with 39K. I haven't done a UOA yet. Wish I had.
