I’m dying right now. Some peeps go crazy when people tow over max capacities of their truck and act like we will die. Then you’re out there on a highway at 135mph with parts flying off truck. I see the humor in this. Even if you don’t lol

I'm glad he blew up his drive shaft. I've learned a lot.

I always thought a RCSB 2WD would be like a Challenger with a bed, so to speak. But nooooo!

+150, huh? That's Viper Truck territory.

Ya no **** i am definitely looking into getting one

Would a 2017 have the same shaft. My 11 driveshaft looks a lot smaller diameter than the one in my 17. What year did they change them? The one you have pieces of looks like the larger diameter one.

It's only the 2 wheel drive regular cab shortbox trucks with the 8 speed transmission that have the driveshaft problems BWL. 4X4 regular cab shortboxes and the longer QC/CC trucks are all okay.

This has been a known issue with the 8sp regular cab 2wd trucks for years. As Gary said, on the stock tires, it will let go at 130mph, and on a 28" slick/radial, it lets go at around 110mph. You either need to keep it below those speeds, step down to a 3.21/3.55 gear, or get a built driveshaft made to handle that rpm. The Driveshaft Shop is the only company currently offering an upgraded driveshaft for these trucks. When I lost my driveshaft at the track, I tried calling numerous local shops, and many others outside of the state with no luck finding anyone capable or willing to make 1 for the 8sp except for DSS. I went with the Carbon Fiber unit.

Matt, do you think running the new 30" MT dr's w/ 3.92 on a bolt on truck is still pushing it. I normally trap 105-107. The new MT is 2" taller so that should push that point up a few mph. Not much but a few

You would be good. Mine snapped at 110mph with a 28" tire. If you do the math on a Critical Speed calculator, you should be good to 118mph on a 30" Tire.

The Carbon Fiber driveshafts are a bit pricey. But, in addition to being a lot stronger, they're also a lot lighter. Also, if you get a CF DS before having to pay a tow truck, because you blew the stocker, it's not that bad of a price!

If I was wanting to go fast in a RCSB, a Carbon Fiber driveshaft would be one of the first things on my list.

The Driveshaft Shop webpage keeps coming up with an error. I went on to their FB page and tried to send them a message, but it comes up as an error too. Just thought I'd mention it.

I have been reading and soaking up all the info for my RCSB truck to get a parts plan/mod list for when it comes off warranty. I would like to take it to the track maybe for some 1/4 mile fun. This is another item for "the list"! I'm glad I started with a Tradesman....

Gary get ahold of Steven Cooper on Nadodge,he's running the new 30" Mickeys on his nitroused 2015 R/T.He's also running an aftermarket driveshaft in his, that's a bit different then DSS's driveshaft. If you haven't talked to him, might be worth looking him up.

I do and I don’t if you seem the cars behind me scatter when my shot blew all over lol that’s funny.

The fact my rt truck was shamed... not so funny, hence why I am thinking viper truck
I call BS if you were really doing 131 mph there would not be any cars behind you.

Hilarious! It's not the truck's fault......... It will do what it's built to do all day long. When you build a "Hot Rod" it's always a process of addressing the weakest link to keep it running. Clearly the driveshaft needed upgraded to run that kind of MPH. Going fast isn't cheap................

Go to the track if you are going to drive like an a-hole-RAMS are fast enough when stock-it doesn't mean you have to push it to the max on a public highway-and if you want to test aftermarket parts, then please don't put innocent drivers and their passengers life at risk and take your truck to the TRACK!!!
