Hello All, Has anyone had success relocating the Blind Spot Sensors from a 5th Gen (such as my 2021) 3500 truck bed to a flat bed tray? Considering replacing the existing bed with a flat bed tray. I am getting conflicting info from reputable flat bed installation vendors. thank you Gary

My recommendation is that if having the sensors working in your new application is a must have, go with the vendor that says it will (not may) work. Then if you have problems it is their's to fix, not your issue to figure out. This is a case of you get what you pay for, so maybe more expensive for the "will work", but you get their tech support.

The blind spot sensor, and cross path detection, is located in the rear tail light. For it to keep working, as it is unlikely they will use the existing tail Light, they need to remove the sensor and add it to the new deck lights, properly aimed. The sensor is built so you can take it out and replace it. I see no reason why someone who knows what they are doing could not relocate it but I have not personally tried to do that.

If you ask them exactly how they do it, you will pretty quickly figure out if they know what they are talking about, or not.

P.S. Keep your old tail lights to resell, they are worth quite a bit, as is a new box and tailgate.

Sorry for late response. So two utility body businesses ((over 100 new different ones in stock at each busisess) say can't relocate the sensors in a Ram. Can relocate a Ford or GMC product.

One high end 4 wheel off road camper conversion support business says they have many times and can relocate from the old lights to the new flat bed on this 2021 Ram 3500. They use a bracket to mount the sensors on the flat bed as part of the wire harness conversion kit.. They don't understand why the utility body business will not. The utility body folks rely on input from dealers as they complete new chassis trucks for the dealers routinely.

If i do this i'll probably use the camper conversion folks... don't want to lose the feature.
Thank you for the input.

Sounds like you have located the right place to help you out. Like all things, there is a tremendous variation in the expertise and quality of different places.

Thanks for the photo of the BS and CP Monitoring kit.

I'm on east coast US. So now issue is I am back to finding someone that can install a CM or other standard flatbed and install (transfer)these sensors. Reputable vendors I found will only transfer sensors on GM and Ford products. They insist the BS and CP monitoring software capability be disabled by a dealer prior to installing a flatbed.

The vendor that can do the transfer can only use their bed and their camper (Four Wheel Campers). Very good products but not willing to spend their prices (yet).

If anyone reading can help locate a vendor that can do this on a Ram would be most helpful.
Thank you
