Well, seems RAM thought the best place for the block heater power cord was on top of the passenger wheel well requiring the need to open the hood for access. I'm thinking about installing a waterproof power inlet socket like the Noco unit.

What I'm looking for is a creative place to install it, I can't find any place that wouldn't look like a hack. Has anyone found a creative but useful way to get AC power to the block heater?

On my 2020 the plug was coiled inside the bumper and can be easily pulled out the tow hook opening

That is where the block heater cord is located on my 3500 Cummins but on the 2022 ED, it is tucked in on the passenger wheel well around the cold air intake. I guess I'll look and see if that is an easy run to get the cord near the tow hook.

usually on all veh the cord is long enough to exit the veh. If for some reason yours is not just purchase a longer cord they are cheap

On my new 2022..... 2500, its actually mounted on the front bumper, just above the tow hook. On my Gen4 truck, I simply pulled the cord thru the grill area, and it was hanging near the lower inter-cooler opening.

Run an extension cord into wherever you can get to the block heater cord and leave it attached permanently. I have the in car warmer and the block heater both plugged in so all I have to do is unwrap the extension and plug it into an AC outlet. You can easily put 35' of extension cord on that holder. Also means I never have to go hunting for an extension and the plug end isn't flapping around in the wind. The holders can be mounted to the bumper, the grill etc.

Same setup on my 96 Ram

No drilling needed. it is a clamp arrangement. Called a Zerostart Extension Cord Holder. Zerostart makkes a lot of block heater cords, replacement block heaters etc.

The new routing of the cord is zip tied in place. It’s also zip tied to the grill and doesn’t move.
