I have a 14 Ram 1500 with the nav/alpine sound system. I've scoured the internet and can't quite seem to find the answer (or what I think is the answer) to my problem. I'm not sure if this is a wiring issue, a blower motor issue, or an infotainment issue.

When I have my AC on, and ONLY when the AC is on, if I turn the fans all the way up they'll be nice and powerful as they should be. After a few minutes they will die down a bit and then get more powerful again. When I'm driving long enough it happens quite a bit where the fans will get strong then die off. There's never any pattern to it either. It seems to only happen when I have the fans above the 3rd speed or that's at least that's when I can hear the fan enough to notice it.

Bumpy roads don't seem to have an effect as it was just doing it to me while sitting in a parking lot. The owners manual doesn't really say anything. I do not have "max AC" on nor do I have "auto" on. So in my thought process if I have the fan speed at 6 with no other settings on other than AC, then the fan should always blow at the 6th speed.

I also get a fancy whiny noise only when the AC is on also. Took it to the dealership and they said they didn't notice it (probably clicked it on and off right away and didn't wait)

If anyone has an answer for my problems that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hello Loren Nickel,

I understand your desire to reach a solution for this. If you decide you'd like to get a second opinion, let me know. I can get this over to a Case Specialist who'll work with you and the dealer toward a potential solution.

Do you have the HCAC “auto” setting?
Sounds like to me that you have a temp set and the fan is adjusting its speed to keep the desired temp
