Hey all, here’s another headlight bulb question.

i have the quads on my bighorn and want to change the bulbs from the ugly original yellowish lights to a led look blue. I really don’t want led bulbs as I’ve read of issues like flickering, bulb out messages. I’d rather stick with halogen plug and play. Or any led with adapter that’s plug and play.

Can anymore point me to the right direction?

I found the sylvania h11 zxe gold halogen and Phillips diamond vision but they don’t seem like they’re blue enough.

I really like the led blue color on my buddys 2020 Laramie. I know I can’t get that with a halogen but would like to get something close to it.

thanks!!

Cougar Motor 3.0 LED .... They are 5000 lumen and pure white .... Built in adapters .... I did Hi’s Lo’s and Fogs .... No issues .... They are on Amazon .... Piaa makes some damn good halogens ... To get the blue color you are wanting, you have to get to 6000 lumens

They won't be nearly blue enough for your application

If you’re looking for bulbs for reflector headlights I bought mine from headlightexperts.com and I couldn’t be happier. They’re pure white led’s not blue though. There’s just enough room to fit them in the factory housing. They have bulbs for projectors also if that’s what you’re looking for. If I remember right mine were a little over $200 for low and high beams. The facility bulbs were garbage in my tradesmen. I made a post a little while back about them.

At 5600k, the light output is mimicking daylight (full visible spectrum). 6000k will have a blue hue (not actual blue light which is useless for headlights).

The most daylight white halogen headlamp bulbs I've personally had are PIAA Xtreme White Plus - which were in the PIAA 520 driving lamps on my previous 4wd. They're expensive bulbs.. like way expensive but I have to admit for the money and wattage they really do emit huge amounts of truly white light.

I was checking cougar's website out and it says "newer jeep/chrysler/dodge may need anti flicker harners or decoder". Im not sure if my 2017 is consider "newer" anymore.

I like the fact this one has built in canbus. If i got one without built in, would I have to buy three separate harness (low/high beam and fog)?

Lumens has nothing to do with color.
Is the kelvin temp of the light a 6000k is white with atint of blue, 6500k more blue, 8000k is very blue.

All blue tinted halogen bulbs will put out less light than untinted bulbs. Halogen light is about 3200k. To get color temperature up to 5k or higher, lower color lumens are filtered out by the blue tint which reduces light output. If you want 5-6k Kelvin light you are best served switching to led bulbs.

Which, just as an FYI, with it raining in Ohio tonite, LED’s suck in the rain at night .... I hate drivin at night in the rain any way, but the LED’s all but disappear in oncoming traffic glare ... Now in complete darkness with no oncoming traffic, they are the **** ....
