Updates, how's it sound, look, feel ect... :birgits_tiredcoffee

I love the looks of Alpines stuff, they never skimp on looks. JL sounds awesome, but looks has never been a strong point.

Well, it still LOOKS like crap, because I hooked it up before covering it. So now it's REALLY hard for me to take it out and finish it! Depending on how the weekend goes, I might take it out and smooth out the box, get it closer to ready for finishing. Still not entirely sold on how I'm going to cover it. Might round-over the edges, and have a shop make a nice Vinyl cover for it. *shrugs* Who knows?

Sounds GREAT! I have the Gain and the Bass Boost at ZERO, and the bass turned down to -2 in the deck. It adds a GREAT lower stage to the stereo. When I wanna **** out, I just turn the bass to 0 on the deck and it's a door rattler.

Fit and performance are better than expected. I love everything about it, and I wouldn't change a damned thing. Even with 'too small' of an Amp, it sounds lovely. Of course, I'm also not out to wake up the neighborhood these days. Just wanted to feel my lows instead of hear them.

Not having an aftermarket deck / using line level inputs really limits the tune-ability of my current setup. I'm looking at an LC7i once I get some stuff paid down. Then I'll add and amp'd front stage and likely completely remove the rear fill.

Started the 'finishing' process for the enclosure.

First coat of gold body filler to fill and smooth any gaps:

Sanded this smooth, though "Wow, this is damned near perfect"
Took it to my local body shop for them to throw a coat of sealer / primer on it.

Got it back, yesterday afternoon. Needless to say, with it all one color, there was more that I wanted to fill:

Once this sets (like by the end of this post) I'll knock it smooth, trow a quick guide coat on it and smooth it with 120.

Then it's time for bed liner!

Another round with the DA, a quick guide coat to seal the wood and about 4 layers of spray on bed liner (DupliColor old school stuff, I love the texture and had 2 cans sitting around!)

Close up of the texture and the Round-over:

Sorry the image quality isn't the best, it's taken with a potato, er smart phone.
I'm pretty excited to have this almost ready for install. Just gotta give it time to out gas. Don't want the solvents ruining my woofer!

This project really took shape into a nice looking setup. I'm eager to see the finished, complete install pics.

You've inspired me, not to add a sub/amp combo, but to take my time and do it right. I too have always been a buy it and just get it in kind of guy. Once it was in, I would be too lazy to pull it out to finish it. I'd also, set a day and say, okay 'saturday' I'm going to build my box. Then I'd run into a problem or issue and instead of stopping and thinking it out, I'd just figure something out on the fly just so that the box was done that day.

BUT... thanks to you. Not this time. Hopefully my results will be as good looking as yours. Beautiful job man.

Wow! thanks for all the kind feedback guys! I'm rather happy with how it all came out.
All I need to do is trim down the package tray to fit with the box and this will be complete.

Driver's seat out again to run the wire to the box under the carpet, end caps installed on the amp:

A look at the sub and wiring cup. Just ready to plug in and set in place:

And finally installed. Wired up and sounding amazing (to me):

I gotta say, this was a great upgrade, just like my headlights. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Nothing! It's No Mod May!
(I mean, I'm not starting any new mods, and we'll just not count the grill emblem)

I gotta let my CC balance come down a bit, like to $0 before I do anything else.

I can get that tickle on the tip of my nose outside the truck if I wanted too.
I have it turned WAY down. But I downloaded the Bass Mekanik CDs. Oh what fun!

Thanks again for all the kind words everyone!
