I am running stock black oem rims on my 16 express qc. Want a better stance without trimming studs. So what is the magic number.1.50-1.75-2"? thanks for any input.

Easy to find out - unbolt wheel, turn it so that the studs slip in the cavities of the wheel inbetween the mounting holes and use a caliper to measure the space between hub and wheel. Usually the rear studs are slightly longer than the front ones. (In my case 3mm/ ~1/8 Inch).

All my research is 1.75 and 2" and you won't need to sheer the studs. I confirmed this with Bora last week who is making my 2" now and tailoring the hub bore of 160.

Had bora 1.5 on factory sport 20x9 rims no trimming needed. May need to trim on smaller factory 20x8's.

It depends on what wheels you use if trimming is required on 1.5". Factory wheels should have reliefs cuts into them between the mounting holes which allow clearance of the stud. 1.75+" clears on all types of wheels.

1.5 spacers with stock wheel= yes
1.5 spacers with aftermarket=No, pending if they have reliefs cuts into them.

See picture for reference

ok guys measured a stud today when rotating tires. 1 9/16" and I have the pockets in the back of my rim roughly.25 deep so I am thinking 1.5 boras will work. Do you guys agree? thanks

If you measured correctly and do the math - 1.5 spacers will fit just fine with your rims.
Stud length (1.5625) minus pocket depth (0.25) is 1.3125.
