the only thing i would have done differently is maybe wrap that trim ring around the amp/sub in a black vinyl or something.

Haha I wanted to. But I have an abundance of grey carpet and I got restless to finish. Original plan was black material. Maybe I will change it up. Thanks tho

That looks awesome. When I get sick of my ported box, I'll have to try and build one thats half that nice.

Thanks! I'm going to make a few more and play with different ideas.

I'm not in the business at the time being but may go back if the right placement calls!

like build cost of materials? or to buy from someone who made it. I guess it would depend on the variables of size and complication.

picked up a 10 inch L7 so im scrapping the Slim Type R box. It calls for quite a bit more air space so ill be making a new box. So ill prob sell my old one if anyone is interested. Its right at .5 cubic ft of space and has a pre made amp rack that should fit most modest sized amps. Ill post more pics to anyone who is interested

Just some pics of some recent box build action.
It looks like you used the mat tape or strips rather than the sheet material. Do you consider the tape superior or easier to work with compared to the sheet?
Looking to start my first fiberglass project.

I use a few things to keep the fiberglass in place to make it easier to work with. If im putting the mat in a place that is sideways or upside down ill spray adheasive it to keep it in place. Some times ill use the drywall tape aswell. It just helps to get the base mold started and in best form as possible.

Can you tell me approximately how much fiberglass it took to do your box?

I generally use the mat to start the form and then fabric to finish. A mixture of the 2 to keep cost down. Fiberglass mat gets expensive but its nice to work with. Id say 2-3 yards would be a safe amount depending on how thick your trying to go. When starting the mold you want tape off everything, then use Tin foil taped down over the other protective layer of tape. That way when you pull the mold out the tin foil comes right out and you have no issues. I usually do a light spay adheasive on the tinfoil right before you lay the mat down because it will hold it nicely in place. Mix 4-8 oz batches of Resin and keep the layers going. I generally use 8-10 drops of MEKP per oz of resin. Take your time and remember to tape off EVERYWHERE heavily cause if the resin gets on the truck somewhere its not coming off.

Thanks for doing this thread. You have provided some useful information.
I hope to have my own box project underway soon. I'll be doing a pair of 10 under the rear seat.
