Brake controller

Hello all. Just installed “aftermarket” intergrated brake controller in my 16 Ram and have an issue maybe someone could help with. Controller works but shows on display trailer not connected and is always on?

There have been multiple reports of people have issues with integrated trailer brake controllers that are not OEM. Some were lucky by trying another, where as others had to use the OEM version.
The OEM ITBM kit part number is 82215040AC

Thanks Crash68. I have one last camp trip tomorrow will see if it works ok then over winter will get the open controller.

Yeah it sounds like it's been hit or miss with the aftermarket ones. Some aren't advertised properly and aren't actually for the trucks they say they are for, and then there is one year (I think it's 2013? I can never remember) that has a specific controller for JUST that year for some reason, and some people end up with those and have issues.

Most people who buy the OEM unit and get the proper one for their year truck don't have any issues, so long as everything is activated properly in the computer.

i'm sure you had the dealer flash the computer to recognize the B/C?

You could ask if they did it right.

Bought mine off ebay about 2+ years back, dealer charged me $50 and it haas always worked great.

Hello, I flashed it myself. Everything is turned on correctly and now my Obd reader cannot connect to the integrated brake control module? It did when I set it up.

2013 and 2014 use the same ITBM. It's the 2015 that's the single model year controller, that model year is also the most finicky about lighting changes also.
All the DS bodies 2016 and beyond (Classics too) use the same ITBM.

I believe the '16 and '17 use the same module, but it changed in '18. I tried the one for later models in my '16 and it wouldn't work.

You can Google the part number and even all the Mopar parts sites have that number listed for the DS '16-'24 model year trucks (the HD trucks stop at '18).

Perhaps it was the early one. The part that worked was the # 68288760AA was for 16-18 only
