Hey all first time posting been browsing for a few weeks now. I have heard it both ways on the OEM integrated brake controller for my 2011 Ram 1500 Big Horn, that you have to get the flash update and that you do not. The dealership says that it is mandatory and it will not work if you do not. Any advice? I pick up my new TT next week and want to make sure it is working properly before I have to tow it. Thanks for any help!

On the 11s it will work without the flash just wont show up on the evic. Just installed one on my 12 and it works without the flash. The newer ones require the flash due to setting the gain on the evic where ours is on the controller itself.

Awesome thank you. That is what I thought since we have all the info right on the controller. Figured the dealership would say you have to in order to get more money.

Yea, I will most likely still be getting mine flashed in the future since the truck will be going in for some maint anyways, and after calling around to my local dealers I found one that will only charge me $42 to do it where as the other ones i called wanted well over $100.00

Yea the dealerships around here quoted me $136.00 with tax. Said it would take just over an hour. Going to have to shop around to see if I can get better.

Yea, i might have only got that good of a price because of the history i have with them. Bought my truck, a jeep and dart from them all in the last 1 1/2 years. Sometimes if you talk to your salesman that sold you the vehicle you will also get a little better rate instead of talking directly to the service dept.
