A thorough investigation has been launched for this concern. Testing is underway and we are awaiting conclusive results. These processes take time. We appreciate your continued patience in this matter. As I previously stated, I will update this thread when information is made available.

I am having the same symptoms on my 2014 2500. Cant adjust the control to put much if any drag on the trailer brakes. My other truck control will slide the tires if set too high.

I do appreciate the update but, it took me five hours in my back yard with my trailer, my Fluke, and a Picoscope to discover the issue and prove it out.

Hi Erica

First I want to thank you for your reply as its the first reply I have seen in the past year at least acknowledging there is something to look at. Also I would like to state that by no means do I want to make this issue personal one but at some point it will probably get extremely personal for some one. First I agree its it needs to be fully investigated but I also believe Dodge has the moral and legal obligation to escalate this and should issue a letter to all owners stating the problem and offer a easy cheap repair of an after market controller until the investigation results in a repair. I am sure the problem is well known as it can be simulated extremely easy and quickly. I am sure if Dodge well trained experienced engineers are unable to simulate the problem there are many many volunteers that will come with their newly purchased Dodge trucks and simulate the problem. It should not take more than 15 minutes of the service departments time to show the problem.

Also I would like to simulate 3 situations that could happen. Two are true and did happen. What if the 3rd happens . Is the response "its being investigated".

1, While trailering between Reno and San Francisco coming down the many steep grades there is a check point. Driving approx 25 mph a ranger walks in front approximately 100 feet ahead signalling to stop. With poor trailer brakes a couple seconds of extreme fear came to a stop just in time

2, The same steep grades with the trailer pushing the truck it feels like completely out of control . Survived by mostly luck in my mind. My wife was reduced to tears...

3, Driving through a school zone with cars parked along the side of the road at 25 mph. A child dashes in front to get a ball. Slam brakes on and trailer keeps pushing ...... You get the point. Do we tell the parents that Dodge has launched a full investigation after many many months of going into multiple dealers and being told it fine and works as per factory design..

I am just a retired person that worked in the electronics field for 35 years and may not understand the full scope of the issue but thanks any ways for listening to my rant

I do understand you personally do not have control of the time line for a resolution but PLEASE some one must!!!!!!

Cant Dodge it so Ram it,

You may have other issues to deal with. What is the weight of your trailer? I see you actually did some measuring yourself, but was it done in actual driving conditions?

If you look through the entire thread it has already been shown that the 2014 ITBM works fine. Lokk at your part number and compare it to below. If it was a very late 2014 that you purchased it may have a 2015 ITBM.

Model year 2013/2014 part # = 82213474 (works good, last long time)

MY15 # = 82214492 (not so much)

MY16 # = 82215040 (unknown)

If RamCares doesn't have any feedback yet maybe as least she could ask what the change was from MY15 to MY16.

Praying for firmware change.

This is what I'm thinking. The issue with the 1500 transfer cases revealed that trucks received a transfer case for the 2013 and later trucks as early as 2011 with no documentation as to the changes. Maybe the late 2014's are more of a 2014.5 and have some of the 2015 changes but not all.

I am now at the point of totally giving up on Dodge. Looking at a Gm or Ford now. I have had truck in to several dealers and still same result. Extremely frustrated with Dodge dealers responses to date. No faults found " Check trailer wiring or brakes"

My problem is if I set to 10 on Heavy duty setting and slide all the way you can barely feel the trailer pulling at any speed. Trailer only weighs approx 7000 lbs. I now have had every wire, magnet , drum replaced on trailer and problem exactly the same.

I have not measured voltage while driving yet but will try tomorrow and post.

Looks like i have 2 choices as cannot seem to get a dealer to fix or even acknowledge a problem exists.. Trade in on a truck that has trailer brakes that work or an after market controller.
Any recommendations out there on a good controller and do I need Dodge to change programming to plug in controller if I choose to go that way.

Check your ITBM part # and see if you have a 2014 or 2015. They are different in construction and operation.

The part number I see is # 68092732AF. I will check tomorrow the voltage when running at 30 and 50 mph. Need a buddy to read the meter when driving.

I think that is the latest revision of the 2013/2014 part. The 68092732AF equates to the 82213474 part number. I believe one is for the module and the other is for the complete kit.

Maybe...

Thanks, much appreciated,, Now at least I know I have different problems from some on the form but I still have major braking concerns.

When I set gain to 10 on heavy duty setting I get under 7 volts and I can barely feel the trailer pulling when I use the manual slide all the way on at any speeds.
Wheels wont lock on loose gravel.
Pull disconnect pin and all 4 wheels lock. Hook up trailer to an old time based system and locks wheels with a setting of 6

Cheers

Check the voltage at the connector at the back of the 7 pin connector. There have been a few people who have had a voltage drop at the connector causing issues.

In an attempt to introduce a note of levity to this big 'ol sour pickle, not once have I seen a RAM commercial or advert boasting best-in-class load stopping power. Boss, I may be in Farmington Hills at the beginning of June. How far from you and yer gizmos will I be?

Let us all remain aware that RAM figuring out a way to cover it's collective ass is a crucial element to said "processes". May take some time, indeed.

Not far, I work in Southfield, on Telegraph Road, between 8 mile and 9 mile roads.
Very cool. I picked up my '16 in January so it's likely one of the first round. Assuming RAM is still waffling by then I'll get in touch when we get to town. Interested to see what #'s my controller's putting out.
