Hi Guys,

I have 2015 ram 1500 Longhorn (Hemi 5.7). When you brake hard, the car turn left. I went to the dealership and they said that this is normal because the left axle is shorter.

Any Thoughts

That is total BS. It should stop straight with no pull at all. Having the truck dart around just because you are braking is NOT acceptable.

Sounds like a load of ******** to me. The length of the axles shouldn't affect anything in the braking

I'd take it to another dealer or ask to test drive another truck at the one you went to.

The length of the axles has nothing to do with it, you've got a brake problem and a dangerous one at that. +1 ^^^

Just came back from another dealership. They inspect the truck and said that nothing wrong with it. you have to keep your hand on the steering when you use the brake or it is gonna pull to right or left. they said you can try any truck on the lot, and i did. I tried a Laramie and it did not pull to the right or left when you slam the brake and the hands off the steering wheel. I called Ram Care Center and they contacted the dealer and based on the dealer information they said we cannot do anything (the dealer said that the truck is normal)

That's ********. If a brand new truck doesn't do it and yours does then there's a problem. I'd have them drive both and tell me there isn't a difference.

Rubbish.. if they think that's acceptable you need to contact the government agency that oversees this type of thing in your area and file a complaint. If it's acting as you describe that vehicle is dangerous.

Normally when this happens the right caliber is stuck and not working thus the pull to the left.

Turn on the windshield wipers while your driving (for a little bit) then try brakes.. The system is supposed to keep the brakes free of too much water when it's raining (well, when the wipers are on) so the ABS motors will lightly press the brakes.. theory is when you need them in an emergency you'll have instant braking.

See if that makes any difference.. I would think that might change the way it's working if a stuck brake pad/piston was the issue...

Very interesting, I've never heard of this before. Is this something new that manufacturers are doing now?

It's in the brochure: http://cdn.dealereprocess.com/cdn/brochures/ram/2015-1500.pdf

not sure if others are doing it... Once they tied the ESC into the ABS we get features like:

Ready Alert Braking: is a system component which senses the moment when the driver’s foot is lifted from the accelerator; it applies an imperceptible brake force to ensure that pads and discs are lined up should an emergency stop be required.

Rain Brake Support: automatically and seamlessly activates when the driver turns on the windshield wipers; all brake calipers gently pulse against their respective rotors to remove water from the pads.

Hydraulic Boost Compensation: Should a failure occur in the vacuum brake booster or any related line (e.g., a rupture from tough off-roading), the brake controller will run the ABS pump; our system is so sophisticated, it conveys the problem to the driver. Most important, the brakes perform as normal until the failure is serviced.
