2008 1500 Bighorn. Hit a deer, caused a brake line to split.

Master cylinder to front brake junction block line split. The line that was installed was 1/4" with 12mm double flare ends. the junction block side was run into a reducer (12mm to 10mm) that was heavily torqued into the junction block. That reducer shouldn't be there.

From looking around, I'm coming up with the brake line should be 3/16" bubble flare with a 12mm ends. Is this correct? I'll be building my own line (the lines from the master cylinder are discontinued), and just need to verify for parts. Similar situation to the ABS block for the rear brakes but, that line is still intact and can wait.

Dorman makes entire hard brake line kits for Most popular trucks/cars... very reasonably priced, too.

I don't need a whole kit. Previous owner had replaced all the lines after the junction blocks when he inadvertently broke one of the rear lines during an exhaust repair. Building custom lines isn't that big of a deal, again, just verifying parts.

I did locate the correct brake line. The original part number had been superseded and is now 55398142AE. This is specifically for the master cylinder to front brake junction. The ends are SAE 1//2" 24 on the master cylinder end and 12MMx1 on the junction block with 1/4" steel tubing.

While I did purchase the specific line, I ultimately built my own line due to the lack of an adapter for the junction block end. I was able to get an adapter from NAPA that reduced 1/2" flare M to 3/8" flare F. Brake line is 3/16" with a flare on the 3/8" end and a 10mmx1 bubble fitting on the junction block end. The previous owner had destroyed the threads in the junction block and I had to run a tap to fix things, but once all was done and all tightened into place, zero leaks and the truck stops again.

If I am able to locate the correct size adapter to use the Mopar line, I will add that part info into this thread.
