I picked up a new BW Sport today and my first priority is to debling her.

The Plasti Dip is already curing on the emblems and badges.

Next up is the grille but I've got a few questions...

(a) Is the Express grill a direct replacement for my Sport grille?

(b) If so, anyone know the part numbers?

Thanks.

(c) Is there a cheaper than OEM alternative that looks like the Express grilles? IE no chrome.

That looks badass but it seems like a major pain in the ass.

How does the grill come apart?

Not hard at all. Long flathead screwdriver on the tabs of the chrome pieces and a flashlight. Took a grand total of 15 minutes to pull my grill and the pieces.

Another guy just taped off his whole grill and plasti-dipped all of the chrome/black.

That's definitely an easier option, I'll have to tool around with it this weekend.

How does the Plasti Dip hold up to bugs, rain, etc.

I've had it on for around 400 Miles now without issue. I have pressure washed it from a distance.

I did the same thing with mine. I actually bought the chrome grille with the intention of doing it as mine just came with the honeycomb grille from the factory. I have put at least over 1,000 miles on mine and have been through multiple car washes with no issues. I do however wait a few days after spraying before I go through the car wash just to be sure that the plasti-dip is cured enough. This is for badges as well. It may have been from the cooler weather, but the finish seemed to get more hard and less rubbery after a few days. Like I said I have had no issues with the grille or emblems. Did ~5-6 coats. Good luck!

Good info.

Is there a write up anywhere showcasing how to take the grilles off and apart?

You should be able to find a honeycomb grille on ebay or craigslist. As for the plasti-dip, it holds up great and yes it comes off THAT easy! I used it just in case I messed it up or I ever wanted to remove it...

I'm about 1,OOO in and haven't noticed any chipping up front.

The exhaust tips have faded to a dark grey though, I don't think Plasti-Dip likes heat.

If you're going to dip it, ensure you're using at least 5-6 coats.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1399498453.794239.jpgI just put my big horn grill insert in today. I spent $20 at the local pep boys for color match paint to get me through until I get a new front bumper. I'm going to get both painted at a body shop.
