My 2018s (both of them) were the only 2 ever to delaminate. From my understanding, 2018 was the worst year for it. My 14,16, nor 19 did it thankfully. But the one in my 2019 Charger did blue screen at 3k miles and require a replacement radio.

That said... the screen was easy to fix. I'm currently sitting on the 8.4 that I just pulled out of my 2500 because it blue screens and freezes up. If I thought I could fix it, I would but I don't think it was worth the trouble.

Regardless, all vehicles are a gamble now. The quality just isn't there no matter what brand you buy.

GMs are having problems with their 10-speeds and the AFM on their engines.
Fords are having problems with their 10-speeds.
Toyotas are having problems with their engines.
Nissans have problems with their CVTs.
Hondas have problems with their steering and fuel injection.
We know the issues that Rams have.

Pick your poison.

All 8.4's are prone to delamination. It's not really "delamination" it's the glue they used to hold the screen protector to the glass screen starts to liquify and run out the bottom. I just replaced the screen in my 2020 due to this. My 2013 had it, my 2017 was starting to do it before I traded it, our 2021 Gladiator is just barely starting to do it. Luckily, if you're handy with a screwdriver and isopropyl alcohol, a replacement aftermarket screen from oeautotronics is only $300.

And eff Ram, RamCares, Stellantis, dealers, whoever over these delaminating leather dash's. Mine was barely, and I mean barely by 300 miles, out of warranty when I noticed it starting. I brought it up to my dealer, opened a case with Ram, denied, denied, denied. They want $3000 to fix it. Heck no. $80k for a luxury truck and they won't fix their shoddy workmanship. Told my dealer that was the last CDJR product I'd be buying.
Well, their hubris makes them deaf to your complaints. The "build it and they will come" mentality has yet to ever disappear.
And, they're all into the game, and convene at "power" breakfasts/ dinners, so I was told by a worthy source. (insider). So, it's futile to threaten going over to "the dark side" per se.... because they know they all make $hit together.

From my perspective, one would be better off to buy an older model vehicle in decent shape, and lay out 10,000 to say, 35,000 dollars to completely restore IT, because one would be WAY more likely to enjoy years of dependable service with FAR fewer stupid issues such that all these newer vehicles suffer from.

I bought my 2004 Lexus RX 330 2 years ago. Clean body, almost flawless interior, new Michelins all around, with some deep pocket mechanical issues with 150,105 miles on it at that time. I got it for $2100.00... Put about 4-6 grand retail into the mechanicals, and am working on broken A/C registers and the fold down latch handle for the center rest of the rear seats (the minor interior glitches). The radio is shot, but who need cassette playing or CD player when the new fangled ones have Sirius, rear view cameras, and the ability to talk on the cell phone thru it?

The paint is perfect thanks to it being garaged/ parked under a car port. Leather is perfect.... yada yada.

Reading about all the problems and experiencing them through my own customers' complaints have galvanized my attitude that, until the manufacturers come back down to earth in ALL aspects of how to treat us customers, we should strive to avoid putting money in their pockets as much as possible.

so.....my 2020 Limited 1500 has 37,000 miles, should i be concerned about the dash? The truck is parked always in the garage and rarely out in the sun. Being black on black, i try to avoid the sun for heat reasons. If i do have to leave it in the driveway in the hot sun, i cover the dash with bath towels hoping that will prevent the issue.

But, if it does begin to peel or lift, i'll trade it in if they refuse to fix it. Cars and trucks of all makes and models sit in dealer lots for months in the sun. If this is just a Ram issue, i feel Ram should address it, but, i doubt they will.

Sounds like it really doesn't matter how you treat it, it's still a possibility. In that case, if it were me, I just wouldn't worry about it unless it happens. Tinting the windshield with a quality ceramic tint will drastically cut down the heat on the dash. My windshield is tinted 70% (can't really tell there's tint on it) and the difference in heat on the black dash is significantly different.
