bug shield

I've been fighting a whistle while driving. After much painters tape, it would appear that is coming from the Stampede Vigilante chrome bug sheild. I've had it on the truck since I bought the truck new in October of last year, but I haven't driven it much. If anyone has the same bug shield, do you have a whistle? I was convinced it was coming from the drivers side A pillar at the wind sheild, but after I taped everything and it didn't stop it, I taped as you see in the photo.....no more whistle.

It’s funny what’s makes things whistle. I put a 8” standard looking antenna my truck. It’s whistles at anything above 73mph.

I have never noticed a whistle from mine. Can you hear it with the windows up? I ask because I always keep mine rolled up.

Yes. Windows up. Once I taped the empty spaces between body and shield, whistle went away. Ended up taking it off. The dealer even commented on the loud whistle.

Ive been wanting to get one and this reason is why I haven’t.

The next time I drive it I will have to listen for it. It might not be until April or May though. Either way I wouldn't take it off because there are several gouges in it that probably would have been stone chips in my hood without it. And of course it does help with bugs.

I am running the OEM bug shield and don't have this issue. How was this mounted?

OEM uses clips on the underside of the hood.

Take it off and run a few tanks of gas and tell me happens to your mileage.

I can put it back on in about 5 minutes if I take my time. I will eventually put it back on probably, but that whistle is so annoying.

I think the door leaks air slightly. Going to have it adjusted. I think the whistle will probably hopefully be gone then..........or I'll leave it off.

I haven't driven it enough to see if mileage is improved.
