Build Sheet

So I requested a build sheet from Chrysler just to have a reference of what my truck came with. My salesman told me my truck came with the 3.92 rear differential and I bought it based on that among other features. The build sheet shows it has the 3.55 rear differential. I'm pretty disappointed and emailed my salesman about it forwarding him the build sheet. What do you think they'll do about it? He seems like someone who really cares and emails me once in a while to check up.

Man that's pretty ****** of them. If you don't mine the 3.55 gears, I'd say just go with it. But if your upset, I'd see if they'll put the 3.92 gears in, that your salesman said it had.

Yeah, I'm not even sure he had a clue what it had, but it was clear that I wanted the 3.92. Hopefully they'll put the gears I wanted in.

I would bring up the fact that they sold you a truck with much less towing capacity as a result. I don't think you can get your GVW door sticker raised either really, if they put 3.92's in, so the only real option is to replace the truck.

Did you look at the window sticker or equipment list? If not, you got what you got.

Did you sign a contract and sales agreement for the truck? Then it was sold as equipped and they owe you nothing (you probably signed a "WE OWE" form with nothing said on it about gears).

Verbal representations are voided by signatures on the written agreement, always.

I'm well aware of what the contract means but its pretty shady of the dealership and salesman to tell me one thing when its something different. I don't expect anything.

I'm assuming if the window sticker doesn't list the 3.92 gears then you are given the stanard 3.55, just asking becuase i still have the window sticker for mine and the 3.92 gears are not listed on it.

I'll check mine in the morning, think it says 3.55 on it but I know it at least says limited slip on it


OP: You really can't do much. Sales men mess up all the time. I once had a random sales man tell me that a 2010 mustang GT had 412 hp, if I hadn't known better and bought the car and then later found out it only had around 300 I wouldn't be able to do anything(I already knew he was bsing so I laughed and called him out on it). The sales man can just claim he mis read something, he didn't actually say that, etc. Now if he sold you say a 2001 camaro z28 but said it was an ss then you would have a case because the ss has an additional trim code, or he said your truck was a 2011 but it was actually 2010 then you would also have a case

This is my window sticker, it has the 3.92's on the sticker, so they must not show the 3.55's because they are standard equipment.

How would you be able to tell if you didnt have the 3.92, only going on the assumption they didnt add it later in the dealership. My dealer adds things all the time not in the factory and the factory specs dont include it. Could just be a misunderstanding

Most dealers won't dive into internal stuff(gears, cams, heads, etc) unless it's a certain type of car and has a demand. Most just do cat back or axle back exhaust, stripes, leather, wheels, hoods and spoilers, and sometimes suspension. So I doubt the dealer swapped out gears

It is 75 bucks for the factory to install it, doubt a dealer would order one with 3.55 and then change it. Put tape on the tire, and then also on the driveshaft and housing. Count how many times the shaft turns for one tire revolution.
