I've got a question for you guys about these bulleydog tuners. I called bulleydog and they said there is no way the dealership can tell I've programmed the truck as long as I turn it back to stock before I take it in for service or Warranty work. Well the dealership is telling me the opposite, they said they can see how many times its been reflashed. Is this true ?

I've got a 2013 1500 express with 37s and I need to adjust my speedo to read correctly. I'd also like to get rid of the torque management but I'm pretty sure you cannot remove that yet?

I do not know how the computer systems work in the truck, but I do work in IT and am an avid Android OS smartphone guy. I can tell you that they cannot tell how many times a normal computer or phone has been flashed. I flash a new mod to my phone about once a week and I've had to make claims for the warranty on it and they have never been the wiser to what I did. As long as you put everything back to normal, they SHOULD have no idea what you did. This is just using my knowledge on computers. The other things are if when flashing, if it resets any counters that should be high to low, it would be a dead giveaway. For example, if you were to flash that to your truck and your truck were to reset it's mileage (which it shouldn't), it would be a dead giveaway. Just some food for thought.

You might want to rethink BD -- unless you plan to keep your truck forever, and never want to resell the BD tuner. Read up about their new policy -- which isn't posted on their website. Also, why would you ask your dealership, if you are thinking of buying a tuner, and worried about warranty work? You may already be flagged by them. Your 37s probably already killed some of your powertrain (transfer case, tranny, driveshaft, axles, differentials, etc), warranty (depending on the dealer).

If the dealership is picky, they can look and see if you have had the truck tuned. They can see how many times it has been flashed via an internal counter.

i had a BD tuner on my 2012 and collapsed a lifter and it took out the cam... ended up being a $4100 fix and i had to take it to 3 dealerships to get them to warranty it. They can definately tell that its had a programmer in it. I have the first two dealer write ups saying that the computer had been modified and the warranty has been voided. Thankfully i found an awesome dealer that didnt tell the chrysler rep.

Take everything with a grain of salt too as there have been many people running all different kinds of tuners with no incident. It sounds like RamRod had a good bit of bad luck with a lifter that probably could/would have failed even without a tuner. Im sure the tuner didnt help but it probably wasnt the sole cause of the failure.

From what I understand the dealership can not tell that the computer has specifically had a performance tune installed. They can just see that the computer has been flashed and if you havent been to the dealership and its not on your vehicle record they assume that you did it yourself via a tuner. Also the more times it has been flashed the more they are like to assume you have been screwing with it.

I hope this helps. Compared to what is out there Bullydog is honestly one the less agressive tuners available.

I'm not telling anyone what to do with their vehicles, but just a word of advice. Before you modify anything that might affect your powertrain warrant you may want to first locate a mod friendly dealer. Generally you can tell them apart from others by them selling brand new modded trucks and jeeps. My dealer doesn't really care what I do to my truck or jeep. Just as long as I'm not taking it to the extreme and expecting warranty work. Tunes, bolt on's, lifts and such are ok in their book. But if I twin-turbo my hemi and it melts pistons, well, i'm on my own for that bill.

BD has already killed the new policy to charge a reset fee. So you can re-sell or transfer the tuner free of charge, you just have to call them and get them to un-lock the tuner.
