I have the Bully Dog 40510 from my friends 07 Ram he sold and he didn't load stock setting and I'm trying to update it online before hooking it up to my 08 Ram and I'm getting the return vehicle to stock error while trying to update it. Is there a way to reset this thing? Or should Just use it as is?

Thanks

Don't see how you take advantage of the canned tunes if locked. You may or may not have to pay $$$ for BD to unlock the programmer. PITA huh? That's why you try before you buy if you can when it comes to local sale programmers.

Try contacting Bullydog to see if they will unlock it,if so they will charge you though....
You cant use it until the factory tune is put back on the truck (sold) or its reset. Until then it'll be a nice paper weight.

when I hook it up to my truck it does give me the option to install not sure if it will work or not tho. I've only gotten a error when trying to updated the bully dog online.

Get it unlocked first, be careful trying to force feed the PCM because you can damage it. Depending on what your buddy charged ya it might be worth it, if he charged you close to list I would tell him he sold you a locked tuner that aint worth the plastic its made of.

Well I told him what was going on with it and he said I could just have it for free so I can send it in for 100 bucks to have it reset. Now is this a good chip/programmer? Will I get any good power gains or Mpg?

I have one currently, it does give you a difference. I felt and saw the difference. To see the most make sure to run it on the premium octane setting.

Im gonna wait till I get my new muffler installed next week to hook this up and if I run the premium octane setting do I need to use high octane gas?

Thanks

Yes you need to use whatever octane they say to.use. more than likely it'll be 91 or 93. If you use less than what they require for the tune you can damage the engine.

I love mine, and all the engine parameters are displayed on the unit which is a big plus.
