2023 Ram 1500 classic warlock v6. noticed a burning smell coming out of the blower vents when heat is turned on. The smell isn't as intense when I switch to floor and defrost but still noticeable. It's not a burning oil or electrical smell it just smells like something burnt. Truck only has 7K miles on it, any idea what it could be? Still under warranty so it will be going to the shop soon but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem.

A few years back my neighbour was complaining about a burning smell in his new 1500,and it turned out to be a plastic grocery bag had stuck to his exhaust pipe. Not saying it's your issue, but it might be worth a crawl under the truck to make sure nothing has melted onto the exhaust

Same issue with my 2022 Big Horn 5.7L Started noticing a burnt chemical smell almost overnight a few weeks ago…mostly noticeable around the front drivers side and right when I open the door…zero leaks, pressure tested and complete radiator flush and replace with non Mopar coolant…investigated the overflow cap solution but it still smells horrible and dissipates as you get moving…but now it’s part of the cloth seats and carpet…had it detailed and ozoned for 2 hours…didn’t help. 2 dealers said they’d never heard of it, yet there are multiple threads and posts on here of the same issue, so it’s hard for me to believe Ram doesn’t know they have a problem…Ive got headaches and feel like Ive been breathing in coolant fumes for 2 weeks now and no closer to a solution…barely 3 yrs old and 50K miles. Pretty close to taking legal action if Ram doesn’t make this right …it’s turned into a health issue

Have you noticed any difference with the intensity of the odour while using heat versus AC?
Or, do you notice any difference with the HVAC set to recirculate versus fresh air?

And, welcome.gif to Ram Forum.

I think the smell is already part of the vent and ducts now, as well as the carpet and cloth seats…I will say that it seems a bit less pungent when I have the recirc on vs not….nothing is stuck in the cowl…and its the same nasty burnt coolant/chemical smell as described by many others…which may or may not point to the overflow reservoir cap when it it expands and thens runs dry and gives off fumes. If the fix is replacing the reservoir and ducts/vents and renengineering a proper reservoir/cap system…and fix it under warranty as it happens, that would be better than the backlash of negative feedback occurring now

Dealership service thinks it’s the leaking back glass and brake light and water pooling under the pad and carpet… sealed the glass and quoted me $1400 to replace the 3rd brake light… $1300 out of pocket now and counting including rental car…and that’s just diagnostic tests by 2 dealerships and a 3rd service center to flush the radiator

You can get a 3rd brake light seal on amazon for like $10. Replace it yourself.
