2021 power wagon burns 1 quart every 6000 miles no leaks no smoke, I think its because the oil is so thin

engines use oil no matter what. vapor is directed back to the intake. 4 or 5oz which is hardly noticable on the dipstick. a qaurt wouldnt be unreasonable if you run it hard alot

This is just a very simple question....Mobil1 0w40 Euro Spec oil is different how from Pennzoil PUP 0w40 motor oil...
Why wouldn't you be able to use either one in your 6.4?

Never had any problem with a dry installed filter. Like you said just a couple seconds and oil pressure is up and strong.
I have only ever pre-filled one kind of filter in my life, and that has been on our Polaris quads. Because if you don't, they won't prime on their own and you have to pinch off some hose to get them to prime. Even then, I considered it part of the amount that had to go back in.

Every other oil change has been done by placing a new filter on, bone dry except a light coat of oil on the rubber gasket, just to make sure it'll spin on fully.

My comment to someone else about the oil filter being saturated when you pull it off, and why you never get the full amount back out, is that the paper/media in the filter gets saturated with oil, and you'll never get it all back out. Just compare the weight of a 'drained' used filter, to that of a brand-new filter - the brand new one is considerably lighter.

Per the manual, both are acceptable. Many people believe you just *have* to use the PUP. You don’t. The manual only demands you use an API rated oil. The PUP is simply recommended. M1 0W-40 FS has an API approval. It also has MB 229.5 and Porsche A40, which are much stricter approvals. Mobil’s Euro Car oils are some of the best oils you can buy, and they are comparatively cheap straight off the shelf at Walmart.

There’s nothing wrong with PUP 0W-40, but there’s nothing special about it either. Its greatest asset was all that GTL in the base oil mixture. We’ll see what it contains in the near future now that Shell’s Pearl facility is offline.

None of that is correct.
Mobil 1 0W-40 (often sold as "European Car Formula") does not officially carry Stellantis/Mopar certifications MS-A0921 or MS-12633. These specific material standards are primarily held by Pennzoil (like Pennzoil Ultra Platinum) and official Mopar oils

It does NOT make any sense to use M1 when PUP is available.

Hemis have always consumed oil. 1qt every 3000 miles is normal; usually as blow by, but throttle body and pcv valve usually get coated with it. I haven't noticed it "yet" on mine but that's only because I'm not paying attention to it. I won't be surprised though if it was missing a quart though at my next oil change.

Is that common for Hemi’s???

I’m over 100k miles on my 6.4 and it doesn’t use any oil during my 5k mile oil change cycles.

is for the 5.7l variants. every single 5.7 Ive owned over the last 20 years has done so. the 6.4 is just a scaled up variation of the hemi, dont think it wouldnt be any different.

PUP is inferior to M1 OW-40 FS. The API standard the PUP meets is not nearly as stringent as MB 229.5 or Porsche A40. The Stellantis spec is meaningless. It is nothing but a marketing deal between Stellantis and SOPUS. Guess what the original SRT oil was?

Stellantis does not require anyone to use PUP or any oil that meets their special specification. The only requirement is to use an oil that has an API seal, which the M1 in question absolutely has.

Nothing I said was incorrect. If you believe that it was, quote the specific language, and then offer your reasoning as to why I am incorrect. It may not “make sense” to you to use a “European Car Formula,” but that does not make me incorrect.

Any engine that burns excess oil needs the combustion chamber cleaned regularly, this is literally the only product OTC that works. Amsoil pi of notable quality as well, but we have the receipts on si-1. This is through the fuel lines, if you use the vac lines you don't need PEA cleaner and sea foam will work. % of PEA matters, 2 bottles per RAM tank in a truck not treated yet, or 1 bottle per half tank. Bulk 55 cheap case price, or Amazon 4 packs always run sales almost same price as bulk 55.

I today did an oil and filter change on the ol' Red pearl (my ram) and measured the old oil. I filled the 5qt. jug full and a 1qt. bottle about 1 inch from the top with like a shot glass worth from the catch can and drained the old filter. Drove for some errands and let it settle then checked the level on the dip stick and it was right on the full mark. The MO-899 filter I use is bigger then the teacup filter MO-339 that the dealer says to use so depending on the size of filter a person uses will account for not getting 6 plus qts. of used oil. This is just my experience with less oil coming out then the 7qts. that gets poured in. I Change every 5K and have 51K total on the truck.

I'm not sure what the capacity of the larger filter is, but I can't imagine its much more than 0.5 quart. I would also add a bit extra oil to account for the difference from the smaller filter to the larger one. IMO you should still get 6.5 quarts out in your oil change if you arent burning/leaking any oil on a 6.4 (horizontal filter vs the vertical filter on a 5.7).

I checked it this morning and it was spot-on the full mark. Ran a couple of errands in the neighborhood this morning, let it settle a couple hours and it was right on the mark. No drips, no burn and its a vertical filter. The MO-899 is like 1.5 bigger then the MO-339 so I just consider it to be soaked up in the filter medium. Maybe I should or could add an extra .5qrt to the oil change. I use PUP 5/W20 so could be some evaporation of oil? I will add that before I did the oil change that I did check the stick and it was at the full mark. Engine cold and level in my garage.IMG_0741[1].JPG
