I am going through my new to me ‘22 Longhorn. Tonight I replaced the cabin air filter. The cover for the filter will not latch in place with either old or new filter or no filter at all. The cover is a nice friction fit so I think it’s relatively airtight.

How about your truck cabin filter box cover? Does it latch in place?

One side has to go in first before the cover will snap into place on the other side. I don't remember which side goes in first but I believe there is a small slot that the case slips into, then snaps in place on the other side.

Try pushing on the clips instead of the cover itself. I had the same problem and it worked for me.
That appears to be the fix. The plastic is pretty soft. The locking tabs don’t appear to snap back in place over the molding on the housing, so they need a little help by pushing on the tab ears to get them to engage the filter housing.

This explains why the click sound I was expecting as it locked into place never occurred.

I’m not too impressed by the design or the materials used but I guess it will suffice.

I put about ten years of wear on the parts playing with this issue.

Thanks to all!
