Cabin air filter installed using different filter for those interested

I installed the cabin air filter kit yesterday finally after 5 years lol. The dealership sales guy did same in his truck and showed me the difference between ram cabin air filter which was very flimsy not much to it compared to the journey one which was way better more dense better quaility. Check for yourself match them up exact same size. So I used the journey cabin air filter as it is so much better. Just a knowledge bomb for those who are interested. I do plan on k&n when this one needs replacement of course. Yet in meantime just some info for those who rather use a regular cabin air filter.

Oh and journey filter was same price as the ram filter!

Last April when I purchased my 2019 Ram 1500, I bought the K&N washable cabin filter. I have one in each of my cars and under the hood as well. Its a simple wash and install.

That is the K&N VF3012 and is for the Gen5 trucks, I highly doubtful it will fit a Gen4 truck as it is about an inch longer and wider than the correct filter.

I’ve owned the truck new since 2016 and never knew it was missing. Do some of these trucks not come with one from the factory?

certain years started installing the door but hit or miss on a filter being in there. My 2014 doesn’t have the door but my 2016 does. I too didn’t have a filter in there but at least I had the door and didn’t have to cut and install the door kit. Glad I had this forum to enlighten me or i would have never would have even checked it.

I used this one. Huge difference. It’s a lot thicker and more pleats. After 25,000 miles the stock filter was causing pressure drop from my ac vents. Found this after reading some reviews.

My 16 Sport didn't have a door much less the filter. Bought online and out in when i bought it (used)
